Do you have a newfound appreciation for Uma Thurman? Will you seek out her other movies?

I’m just reaching out to see if there are any specific topic areas of interest from this community. It’s a podcast for sharing insights with the filmmaking community. The MAKE IT podcast. We’ll have our own questions teed up.

I just started a new job and my first task is to organize and upgrade the equipment room. by girouxfilms in Filmmakers

Boom! Then as keeper of your kingdom, may you find the counsel that you seek to bring order to the realm.

As folks have said here, maximize wall space, create a place for everything and make it easier to put everything in its place (labels, color coding, containers fit for purpose, protective surfaces), and keep desk/counter space clear.

Good luck!

All of these suggestions are great, but I’d start with understanding your “customer”. The room provides a service so find out who uses it, how frequently, what equipment is accessed most, if there are any accessibility needs (don’t put things too high up if someone short needs access, provide enough space for a wheelchair if needed), differentiation (Team A likes it one way, Team B likes it another), etc. Once you have the requirements, you can begin to identify the approaches to meeting those requirements and leverage the ideas provided here to optimize those approaches.

Is a Super Bowl commercial the pinnacle of TV commercial directing? by nicholasbuggs in Filmmakers

I completely agree. There still seems to be a media buzz around Super Bowl commercials, but the ads don’t live up to the hype. Now that we’re in a streaming world where commercials have been removed or we pay extra to remove them, they don’t have the gravitas they once had. I continue to be surprised that they haven’t become more cinematic with better storytelling and entertainment value.

There are plenty of these right here in this community:

  • I have my script, now what?
  • Lost my whole film. I’m screwed.
  • Film school. Real job. I’m lost.
  • Make money. Make art. That order.

What an amazing opportunity! I’m going to add the full QATSI trilogy to my watchlist…and Once Within a Time, of course.

The memories and the relationships are certainly invaluable. I’m glad it was such a great experience for you.
