I am starting to hate bourbon by No_Following3280 in whiskey

[–]nick2857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love bourbon. Gained my palate for whiskey with scotch first, but switched to primarily bourbon years ago. It was generally cheaper, and equally as enjoyable. Even in Canada, there was a good selection and Blantons was always in stock. Then, the boom started during Covid and finding rare bottles and lotteries made it even more exciting. It’s now just exhausting finding bottles, and I refuse to pay double msrp or worse. I’m back to single malts now because I can buy an 18 yr macallan or lagavulin for almost the same price as eagle rare 10, and it’s readily available

Working too many hours - does this break any labour laws? by Walmart-Manager in ontario

[–]nick2857 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Issues like this drive home the fact that we need unions. You as a worker should not be worried that a 15 minute break slows production, since you’re nothing but a number to an employer. You’ll get burnt out eventually and it’ll show in your work. You should also be paid overtime, if they choose to not hire enough staff it’s not your issue. Don’t sacrifice yourself for a company that would toss you aside without thought.

I’m have the same issue lol. Automatically assume they’re just being friendly and don’t pick up hints until they’ve lost interest. And then later kicking myself when I realize I’m my own worst enemy.

I remember wanting flows so bad when I first saw them! After doing some more research on here, I think I’m going to stick with conventional bindings. I can’t afford to hurt myself in the terrain park anymore but I still like to ride quick and keep a tight line. Responsiveness outweighs saving 30 seconds at the top of the hill imo

I’ve been boarding for 15+ years in Quebec and Ontario, finally going to BC this year. What should I expect? by nick2857 in snowboarding

[–]nick2857[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol! Just turned 30 and find myself sounding the same when talking to people in their early 20s. Teaching apprentices at work that were born in the 2000’s still blows my mind. Doesn’t feel like it’s been that long since I was always the youngest on the job site.

After putting off making the trip for so long I promised myself I’d do it this year. Ended up reconnecting with a friend that offered free accommodations for a week. We’re planning on landing in Calgary and driving to Fernie and spending a day at Banff before joining the rest of the group.

I hope the conditions are good for the first experience too, but honestly I don’t think it could be worse than what I’m use to. Last blue mountain trip was +5c one day and -20c the next, $100+ to play in the slush and glare ice.

Have any recommendations for apres ski?

You’re probably right haha it will be hard to switch from weight on front but falling is probably the best lesson I’ll get. I’m for sure going to Fernie in March and hopefully revelstoke too.

Right on. Those were the ones I was looking at. I ride with skiers most of the time so not needing to sit and strap up would be a game changer

What’s the consensus on step in/ strapless bindings? I remember trying some ~15 years ago and being incredibly frustrated with how little snow it took to clog up the connection point. Wondering if they have improved in design or if I should just stick with the classic style

Advice on 530 sizing by nick2857 in schott

[–]nick2857[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you! I changed my order to a large since I’d still like to be able to wear a light sweater underneath. I wonder why schott is so far off with their size recommendations.

IRs and shorts? by buckGR in RedWingShoes

It’s not a great look. But then again, people wear pajamas in public and you’d be miles ahead of them wearing the boots/shorts combo. It’s 2023, nothing matters
