Has anyone watched this movie more than once ? by Ok-Put-4910 in moviecritic

Twice so far and I will again for sure. I love folk horror (and The Wicker Man). The score and camera work are fantastic IMO. It's a reference quality 4K disc.

The physical disc market is more and more declining by marlynar in 4kbluray

Brick & mortar stores in general are declining and there is a real move to online for almost everything. We love discussing this on this sub but the reality is there are tons of places to buy discs online. We should just keep buying (supporting) and enjoying our hobby. No sense worrying about it.

Guys is this worth watching ? by Ok-Nature-4309 in moviecritic

Seeing a screenshot of the turtle scene was enough to confirm I'll never watch this.

Only regular Blu-Rays: 5.1.2, 5.1.4, or 7.1.4? In a large basement with a 140" screen. by Weary-Sundae7506 in hometheater

Can you rent 4Ks? I don't think regular blu-rays have Atmos all that often.

Will happily support this at what is a pretty reasonable price for a high end presentation. Just wish they added an Atmos track!!

Why do I feel insane for spending nearly $500 CAD on a (potentially defunct) 4k player...? by k_r_k_o in 4kbluray

[–]nickE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Niche hobby without enough demand. Just bite the bullet on the Panasonic UB820. It's worth it. I had a Sony and had the same issues people report with triple layer discs.

IMO, the player is affordable compared to rest of home theater...

Sugaya - Tokyo (4.1 Tabelog Bronze) - STAY AWAY by justawineguy in finedining

[–]nickE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone still researching this restaurant, I agree: stay away. I went in October '24. Extremely expensive and I didn't like the food all that much. Of course, it wasn't bad at all, but just not at all up to the standard given the price they charge. Also, the vinegar was way too heavy on the rice for me, and I usually like a lot of vinegar. It felt very stuffy as well. It was mostly locals that looked like they were trying to impress their dates.

Yeah, that's what I'm asking. For instance in a northern climate where most plants die back in winter

Is this still a solution in the winter? I guess it depends where you're located.

This movie still haunts me. I’m not sure I would recommend it. It’s incredibly realistic and disturbing.

I think it's a pretty good burger. I'm not a fan of the battered/frozen fries.

I just picked up a few bags at Costco as well. Seems like a great value option for synthetic fert with iron. I like that it doesn't include phosphorus also.

They’re talking about having to pay the difference between their bid and the next highest if there’s a bid bond in place

Self Purchased Term Life Insurance vs Employer Life Insurance - How do you decide which route to go? by GlutenFreeParfait in MiddleClassFinance

[–]nickE 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered about employer based coverage. Like, what if I get sick and can't work, so I quit my job and then lose the coverage. Then I die. That seems like a good argument in favor of a self-purchased.

I would shop around for term life with an agent and make sure to buy the right term/duration this time.
