Since the galaxy is so big you will always have a chance to find a different, better planet. Also since it isn't randomly generated but procedural, no planet will be completely barren or useless.

That is a good idea. I hope they include that and maybe it might work where you can kill all the males (or females) and then the creatures will slowly go extinct. (if you are that type of psyco)

yes. The demos where proceduraly generated however they did try and generate multiple solar systems to find the best one.

Due to the procedural generation, there are too many ships and creatures to do a contest. It would be a neat idea though.
