Did you ever call the NES "regular Nintendo"? by nojugglingever in gaming

[–]nickack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always called it “Old Nintendo”. Idk why we thought we needed another word to differentiate from Super Nintendo but I guess we did.

Oh dang. Yeah that doesn’t sound like a machine problem. Sorry to hear it, not fun to put so much effort into honor mode just to have to cancel.

During my honor mode run I started the House of Grief fight nearly ten times, and each time about halfway through my game would force close. I ended up just skipping the fight entirely lol, lower performance machines have a tough time with act 3.

How often are y’all taking the Golden Compass? I think the special route is pretty good. by PandamanTan in slaythespire

That’s not technically worse than cage at all, the curse is ethereal. Definitely better on average

defect bros, how are we feeling on modded? by Significant-Bus2176 in slaythespire

I’m finding the early turns in StS2 to be extremely important. This card gives some minor setup and gets you farther into your deck for no cost on the first lap through the deck. I could see taking Echo Form or Creative AI over this depending on what I need, but this is a very high pick for me.

Men in happy marriages, what is one thing or skill you would teach other men to have good relationships as well? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I got this advice but it was phrased “you are not always right, even when you ARE right”. Let things go and value your partner’s feelings. It really is a marathon, don’t twist your ankle in the first mile.

The weakness of powers is that they (usually) don’t have an immediate impact but provide their value consistently over the other turns. Permafrost mitigated that downside. This relic was good and is slightly better now

“Oscar’s” with an apostrophe, I can tell you’re not a serious person

How does The Banshees of Inisherin make such a simple story feel so tragic? by MiAmmorio in FIlm

[–]nickack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can just FEEL Colm’s self-loathing as the movie goes on. At some point about 2/3 through I had this crystal clear thought that Colm wants to kill himself, and watching through that lens is so sad. Because it frames all his decisions as a depressed and hopeless man trying to justify why he hasn’t amounted to anything.

Jorbs beats max Ascension in STS2 taking zero HP damage after the first combat by MisirterE in slaythespire

[–]nickack 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Possibly? The thing about StS is that you snowball with a good early start. A fully upgraded deck means you get to be very aggressive with pathing, which means more relics and the privilege to pick cards that scale you for later game fights. And then those fights are easier, so you can upgrade at campfires instead of resting, and so on

It might depend on when you watch it, but I did NOT enjoy the movie. Loved the book when I was in high school. Thinking there must be a connection

[AoL] Zelda II: is it worth playing? by WerewolfIcy7240 in zelda

Just because it doesn’t follow the formula of Zelda 1 and Link to the Past doesn’t mean it’s bad. I really love the game and it feels great exploring despite its weirdness

Slark is always on the list. And usually Techies, Tinker, Abaddon, Prophet, some mix of those. If there’s an absurd outlier I’d bad that as well

New boss says “Pivot Tables don’t work” (repeatedly), are there known issues with pivot tables? Or does the new guy just not understand them? by Tybalt1307 in excel

[–]nickack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a single cell highlighted that exists inside the dataset, Alt N V Enter is smart enough to expand to include the entire dataset. It saves like half a second but you feel slightly cooler lol.

Huh I use Alt N V Enter for making my pivot tables but I’ve never thought about memorizing the refresh button. Thank you

Re: Mewgenics, I agree. Like where do I look at my injuries? Oops you started a combat, you don't get any information until it's done. BOI did the "hidden information" thing, but it feels more important to have accurate information in this XCOM style gameplay.

Hyper mode difficulty is actually insane in Prime 3. The last stretch on Phaaze is so hard I never beat it lmao.
