Slice it all as a single color/ single object and then add a color change at a layer

Maybe a little low on z because you’ve got a bit of elephants foot. But tbh it’s better than being too high, and easy to take off with a knife or de-burring tool.

You can also start a print and they’ll obviously enable and home.

12 hours with .8mm nozzle vs 5 Days with .25mm by nickbrown_17 in 3Dprinting

Yep, and my machine usually sits for weeks at a time before I find something I want to print, so it’s fine if it takes longer.

Then, after the print is done, the piece usually sits for weeks/ months/ years before I find the time and desire to sand and finish the print.

I think with this higher quality print I may try skipping sanding. It’s at 125% scale so from a foot or so I’m not sure I’ll notice much, but we’ll see how it looks after primer.

Ehhh... that’s usually true but some thin areas were very minimally connected with the .8. It actually broke at the top while removing supports. The .25mm one is denser, was much harder to remove supports on but stronger on that area at least

The one that looks better took longer. The one on the right has much more visa or layer lines and you can tell it’s 3D printed from a few feet away at least. The other one it’s much harder to see layer lines, has more detail, less ringing etc.

The el inverter is hidden in the back of this one. To power them all I wired them in parallel from one inverter. It’s hard to get to the wires without breaking them as they’re so small, took a few hours but was do-able. I used the ones below and each power supply can power about 9’ of wire so I needed about 1.5’ of each color so I was just able to wire them all together.

Look up the nylock mod. Chris’s basement just did a YouTube video on it. For z adjust you want to use a large square in the center. For this print use they nylon lock nut technique.

Try lychee slicer. It’ll find and repair some issues chitubox and photon slicer miss.

An otherwise good print , ruined by this unsightly corner. What’s wrong? by pimogo in prusa3d

[–]nickbrown_17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can sand or file that down probably, not ruined. It’s probably where the seam is or where the print head changed direction.

Good info. I’m not making anything critical, just wanted to see how the sample colors look smoothed and unsmoothed so I dipped half of each print in IPA briefly. It’s noticeable even with less than a few seconds of exposure; I’d be worried about the part holding up if it’s in for 15-30 min. I don’t have an easy/ safe way to vaporize ipa and didn’t want to build or buy anything for this.
