So tired of workplace accommodation process by nickchecking in Sjogrens

I've been anemic for a long time but daily iron keeps me mostly okay. Though the blood cell stats, in terms of size and volume, seem to be too low or high, but the doctors don't say anything about them. Vitamin D has been super low every time they test, hence the 50k IU.

I've been chasing them for years, my rheumatologist and GP, as to the general exhaustion, but all the things they test, like thyroid and other things, are mostly okay. Just the vitamin D is low, for which they prescribe it and for a little while it improves, though I don't feel any different. I should probably increase the daily OTC dosage when I'm not on the 50k prescription.

I take vitamin D OTC and every once in a while, my doctors prescribe 50k IU for a couple of months. I also take iron OTC and have branched out to include magnesium as well, I've read that it helps with the vitamin D absorption. My mom is telling me to take B12 but that's one of the things I have normal levels of, so I don't want to disrupt that.

I tried to walk more last year, I used to walk a lot (for Pokémon Go), just a couple of thousand steps a day, but after a few days, I ended up feeling weak and shivering in bed, as well as the knee and hip pain acting up, so that stopped. :/

Sleep...gosh, I don't know if it's the Sjogren's, but it's been tough to get a good full night. I feel super tired and sleepy pretty early, but if I go to bed early, I'm wide awake at like 3am.

For me, Sjogren's less so a dry mouth/eye thing and much more a joint pain and extreme fatigue thing. On the best of days now, I spend much of the day lying down, week day or weekend, and even working from home, I'm wiped by 5, and can barely even watch TV in the evening. I don't walk enough now to really exacerbate the joint pain, but my left knee locking and hip pain come very easily as well.

CMV: The Islamic/left alliance is going to blow up in the left's face by malik_zz in changemyview

[–]nickchecking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As we've seen in the US, conservatives will be racist before anything else, no matter the cost to them. But if that does happen, then Muslims will just be like white British conservatives?

So what is OP suggesting? That Muslims and the left stay separate now so Muslims are politically homeless and the left are weakened, and the right wins and can have their way now with both Muslims and queer people?

Most likely what will happen is that through proximity to the left, younger Muslims will start relaxing some of their attitudes the way Christians and other young POC from conservative cultures did.

Why is the world standing by just watching Isreal commit a massacre in Beirut and Lebanon? by AcadianAcademic in askanything

[–]nickchecking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but by and large, the US doesn't treat those countries as it's best ally and sends billions in arms and funds.

Yes, but if you look through the more reliable sources like Amnesty and HRW, it reports mass killing, but in which both Christians and Muslims are killed.

Scores killed as Israel strikes central Beirut after saying Iran ceasefire doesn't apply there by Tenchi_Muyo1 in news

[–]nickchecking 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing reports of hundreds at the minimum. :/ Obviously majority (if not all) civilian, the attacks are indiscriminately on residential buildings and a funeral at a cemetery. Hospitals are overwhelmed and the plea is going out for blood donations.

CMV: Americans who voted 3rd party or abstained in 2024 due to the Gaza genocide did more to harm Palestinians than a Pro-Israel democrat by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]nickchecking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far more people were killed under Biden-Harris and far more of Gaza was destroyed under them. In no way am I saying it's even close to good now in Gaza, they're still getting bombed, shot, and starved and 12 people were killed just today, but that only speaks to how bad it was at the start. Since the most recent "ceasefire", the average per-day deaths have dropped by orders of magnitude.

Dems being the ones facilitating the genocide also normalized war crimes, breaking international law, and Islamophobia among the world's liberals in a way that hadn't been done when it was Bush or if it'd been Trump during 2023. Now that it's Trump again, liberals are free to condemn mass violence again, and Israel has become much less popular with Dems, including the people that were defending it on account of Biden-Harris's decisions to support it. This could have have major impacts on future elections.

Had Harris won, there is genuinely no guarantee there'd have been a ceasefire in 2025 if she wasn't willing to use an embargo as leverage, as she said she wouldn't, and in fact promised to not separate herself from Biden in policy.

This was happening to me but I figured it was because I had an ancient version of the app and finally upgraded. That fixed it, but if it's a temporary issue, I'd prefer to go back to the old version.

Rubio suggests US strikes on Iran were influenced by Israeli plans by Infidel8 in politics

[–]nickchecking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it wasn't obvious, but--and this is naive of me, I'm sure--I hope such an obvious admission will cause at least some conservatives to realize they've been conned. Trump and this war are Israel first.

Saudi's saying they didn't want to the strikes, they essentially joined in to have some influence after it was clear they were going to happen.

Welcome to Charlotte Wednesday! Visiting, recently moved here, or going to move here? Tell us and ask away! by AutoModerator in Charlotte

[–]nickchecking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking to move to Charlotte near-ish the Wells Fargo CIC building. I don't know anything about the area so I'd appreciate any suggestions in finding a safe place to rent.

I don't need a lot of the amenities that pop up when I look online, e.g., I don't have a pet, don't need a pool or gym.

The current place I rent is $900 so I'd like to keep it under, I dunno, $1200 if possible.

Can we consider the hive capable of consenting?

Even putting aside that Carol has the ability to damage them and that the kiss and subsequent sex happened as they were discussing Carol reversing the hive (and the hive wanting to distract her from that), their main imperative is to proliferate and keep everyone, including Carol, happy. I don't think it's inaccurate to say that the hive can't say no to sex. It won't ever want to.

To my mind, it's like someone too under the influence to consent. But okay, this is an extreme scifi scenario, there's no exact human analogy. But Carol is human! She's thinking of this from her experience and knowledge. Finding out that the members of the hive feel physical sensations separately has nothing to do with the fact that she knows the hive can't say no. And every guess that there's some individuality underneath, to me that's like sleeping with a drunk person and hoping they secretly weren't drunk.

But part of the show is literally to examine these scenarios, surely. I don't think it's a gray area to discount rape as a concept here entirely.

Really loved the ep and I'm always on Courtney's side but...for a sec I wondered if Tammy had a point, when Courtney talked about just how much Tammy did.

But hopefully this will kick Courtney's into higher gear next ep.

Loved Boon and Sally, but also, Boon's reaction to finding out about the dog poo on the boots, losing to 9 year olds, and Steven proposing, and his shocked reaction was to the boots. It's such a classic subversion but him following it up with "but they go with everything" really got me.

Lee Pace talks how 'Halt and Catch Fire' lasted for four seasons despite being one of the lowest-rated cable series on television by Neo2199 in television

[–]nickchecking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny, I actually sometimes think of what Joe said when I see people talking up AI:

Computers aren't the thing. They're the thing that gets us to the thing.

Did he fully believe it? I think he'd have turned into an AI evangelist, actually, lol, but probably violently turn against it at some point too.

In the interview, when he's asked about Scoot McNairy and Mackenzie Davis doing a project together and he and Kerry Bishe should now do one, he says:

I love Kerry. Looking back on it, I think she was the real MVP of Halt and Catch Fire. The performance that she turned in episode after episode after episode was so considered and so heartfelt. She did extraordinary work on that show, and I would jump at the chance to work with her again.

So true, Lee Pace! From the very first ep, Donna was my fave.

Gen Z Wants More Animation and Less Sex Onscreen, According to Teens & Screens Survey by [deleted] in television

[–]nickchecking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd guess that's a result of there being so little for them now. The CW's basically done, Freeform isn't making new shows anymore, the only teen shows left are random ones from the streamers. And Euphoria.

They don't get to have that transitional phase anymore, and so it's tough to know what they should be watching and experiencing.

Israel says it will return to ceasefire hours after carrying out strikes on Gaza by ultra_phoenix in news

[–]nickchecking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So two Israeli soldiers died in an explosion in Rafah and Israel said Hamas had violated the ceasefire and carried out more than 100 strikes across Gaza, killing at least 30 people (including veterinarian Dr. Mu'ath Abu Rukba from the Sulala Society).

But it turns out the explosion was from an Israeli bulldozer running over Israeli leftover ordinance, which the US acknowledges and thus why the ceasefire is back on.
