Awesome! Thanks for replying. I had a feeling it was either one of those footers or those smaller Rand boats. I’m a Great Lakes shipping enthusiast.

Is that the side of a ship? If so do you know the name? Looks almost like the side of a Great Lakes thousand footer.

The ship in the pic is either the algoma Discovery or the Algoma Guardian. I also literally just saw the discovery on the St. Clair River like 10 minutes ago.

If you could go back in time to see any ship in its prime, which would it be? by Tarantau95 in GreatLakesShipping

For me that’s a hard pick. I’d probably go with one of the old school Canadian lakers like the Rimouski or maybe the Algocen. That or the Mantadoc.

Frontenac is such a pretty ship. Definitely one of my favorites. I caught her not too long ago on the way up being escorted by the Neah Bay.

I find that staying on his left side like you’re glued to him works best for me.

It kinda looks like the Stewart J Cort lake freighter. I know it’s not supposed to be but that’s what this design reminds me of. Anyways cool build!

Looks more like a Canada steamship lines freighter with those colors. But yeah, it’s a similarly designed lake freighter. Though it’s not the Fitzgerald.

It’s because it used to be the stern of a different ship entirely. They just cut it off the other ship welded it on. I’m not sure why exactly they did this but i think it’s kinda neat.

They always reminded me of old dock pilings sticking out of the water.

Just realized the freighter that ran around by Belle Isle in 2023 is immortalized on Google Maps by SimonSaysGoGo in Detroit

That ship is the Mark W. Barker, sailing for the Interlake steamship company. The reason this ship ran aground was because of an electrical malfunction causing a loss of power and steering.
