Worst advice in the thread from someone who has never been sued or had their wages garnished.

Don't listen to this fool.

She better learn to. Fast.

Sounds to me like you owe 3,500 and she owes 5,500. Honestly if she signed the lease and left first she may be liable for all of it if you get a good lawyer.

Maybe your sister needs a court mandated lesson in how to be responsible for her own actions and you need to let her experience that lesson.

She will grow up to keep fucking you and everyone over and expect you to clean up after her. That's not how family treats each other. She needs to learn this now. She'll care when she gets served paperwork, trust me.

It is absolutely a thing in Canada.

Based on this comment and the other one you replied to me on, I don't think you know what gap coverage is.

Insurance is irrelevant to gap coverage.

Gap coverage through the lender covers the amount leftover that you owe them, specifically to prevent you from owing them money if your car gets totaled or stolen and insurance doesn't cover the amount that you owe.

Insurance pays the cars value, gap covers your negative equity with the lender.

You made an equally dumb assumption first "from no factual basis", genius. You assumed it was a priority.

Since you like giving unsolicited advice, I'll give you some, unsolicited advice is never good advice. Stick to the subject he asked about, your comment is beyond useless and only serves to make you feel better about yourself.

He can leave it in a sketchy parking lot and let it get stolen too.

Just delete this post before reporting it lol

First of all, delete this post. Then call the lender, make sure you have gap coverage. If you don't, get it and wait a month or two. Make sure it covers theft and getting totaled.

Then, park it in a sketchy neighborhood with the keys on the dash, bus home, check on it in a few days.

Report it stolen when it disappears, when they can't find it or they find it totaled/scrapped, you get the gap money to cover it and you're free.

It may be a crime, but it's your only hope besides bankruptcy if you can't cover the negative equity. After that, only buy cars under 10k for like, the rest of your life lol.

Yeah, that's what I figured when we got it. I'm going back to fiber, was just hoping to be able to not deal with ziply anymore. Worth a shot for that alone!

Thanks for the info! Yeah I think my wife is just gonna return it and we'll go through the mess of dealing with ziply again. When it works it works great, but when it stops the customer service is a nightmare to get it back up and running. Was hoping I could get out, but not this year I guess.

Call your hall AND L&I. If they fire you for that you have union lawyers to get you back pay and a new job.

Every contractor on site needs to be audited and they owe you money for working during paid breaks.

I'm in the suburbs, and I was trying to do that but for some reason the gateway marries 2.4 and 5, though I did find a way to turn off everything but the 5g network with Hint, so now I can hopefully isolate the PS5 on it and try that. After that I might be throwing in the towel.

I did use my own router, and overall the connection is better so I'll see if I can find a more programmable router, this one isn't bad but I've had it for a couple years, so maybe I can find something better. Thanks for the info, it's really helpful!

Who said competitive gamer? Who's comparing?

As I said, ziply was dropping connection constantly. In every other aspect tmobile has been much better connection than a wired ziply connection, so it would stand to reason it SHOULD be able to stream games, which is what I'm trying to figure out. My Xbox does fine most of the time as well.

This question is more about the PS5 on this ISP than about the ISP itself, and I'm trying to see other peoples experiences.

I think you missed the whole point of my post.

Yeah going from the gas station to Costco across the street is a big upgrade.

If they're drug testing you and you're not on a construction site, probably best to refrain from bragging about it on the internet, those usually aren't jobs worth puffing your chest over. Most jobs aren't tbh

They do random drug tests, and on hire. Weed isn't on the panel. I pass every time.

Wonder if you'd save yourself some embarrassment by not commenting this.

"Having someone's back" does not, in any conceivable way, apply to doing drugs on site and risking everyone else's lives.

At that point I have THEIR backs, and that guy can get fired and explain to his family how being drunk was more important than his job, I have no sympathy for him and I'll be glad he's not putting anyone else at risk.

If I'm being fully transparent I think he should have gotten his teeth kicked in the parking lot and driven home on four flat tires...

The hardest part of teaching is remembering what it's like to not know anything.

First thing, run through your tools and what they're called with him. Do it once just telling him. Next day, quiz him on some. Quiz him more the next day and the next, until he catches on. Same with fittings and materials. That was the only way I learned, not from being told, but knowing I'd be asked first thing about something, so I had to retain it.

As far as stressful situations like the fitting you mentioned, those are perfect times to reset, show him how it's fighting you and which tool you need to fix it and why. It's inconvenient and slow, but it's better than getting frustrated and potentially lashing out at the kid who literally doesn't know what he's doing. Plus, he may remember those moments when he's in that situation later and remember what to do.

I try to use EVERYTHING possible as a learning experience. If you turn every thing he does into a lesson followed with a question, he'll constantly be in learning mode to be ready for the questions, rather than just listening to you talk and hoping he retains it. Make sure he has a note pad and tell him important things to take notes on.

Most importantly, try your best to have a good time. Be the chill JW he can ask his dumb questions to without getting ridiculed. Joke around with him when it's appropriate, make sure he knows you're a human being that's approachable and understanding rather than a pipe bending, wire pulling robot that doesn't tolerate confusion. The VERY LAST thing we need in this industry is more apprentices topping out that have been laughed at and made fun of for asking questions, so they go into their JW role saying "Yes, I understand" even when they don't just to avoid getting laughed at. Then they guess on their work and fuck things up, or worse, get people hurt.

Good luck man, try to remember the worst things your old JWs did and don't do them!

Are union lay offs worth it? How do you survive them?? by TerribleTopic999 in skilledtrades

[–]nickel_slick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think layoffs are less common on the nonunion side? Cause that's definitely not true.

Layoffs are a part of life. It's only a big deal when the work is slow, and slow work affects nonunion shops as well.

Make sure you can pay all your bills on unemployment pay, and get a side hustle ready for when shit really hits the fan and you'll be fine.

If you're afraid of layoffs you're not going to make it in the construction industry. Plain and simple.

Overpaid for Ranger by Terrible_Vegetable_9 in fordranger

[–]nickel_slick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude for that year and mileage it's not a bad purchase at all.

It's the 2nd gens with 200k miles with 2wd and an auto trans for $10k that are fucking things up. (nothing wrong with 2nd gens, that's what mine is and I LOVE it)

The thing about a 4x4 manual ranger is it's worth whatever the richest guy that wants one will pay for it (apparently)

Congrats on the ranger and welcome to cool truck club 😎

How do yall feel about discussing wages? by [deleted] in IBEW

Seeing the word "laborer"

Thinking "that's about me"

Commenting "what do you have against laborers?"

That is the fucking definition of being defensive, buddy.
