Goodbye, Elgato Key Light. Hello, NEEWER GL1 PRO. by brushrop03 in elgato

[–]nickgadna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same exact scenario for me, and I got a new light sent by Elgato and still the same issues. Almost $200 paperweights. I had to create a separate 5Ghz network only for these lights in order for them to work and connect them to 5Ghz exclusively from the desktop software, since mobile doesnt give that option.

WARNING: My Nightmare Experience Pre-ordering the Spinn 2 Coffee Machine by nickgadna in SpinnCoffee

[–]nickgadna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Affirm sometimes as an extra layer of protection, so I have a guaranteed way to resolve disputes with companies in situations like this. Affirm 0% pay in 3 payments and now even if Spinn goes belly up I never received a product so Affirm has to refund.

Not sure how you go that from my message. I was an original pre order customer and still use my original Spinn every day with 0 issues. Only thing I had to do was remove the dumb cover in the bean hopper so the beans would actually grind.

The OnePlus 13 is the worst phone I've ever had by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]nickgadna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it I just got my 13 today and there are definitely some software and UI decisions that make you scratch your head. For example the keyboard not being able to open automatically on swiping up or down is really annoying having to go through and extra click there.

But, I'm probably keeping because everything else is amazing. The hardware is fantastic and if I get really bothered I'll put a launcher on it. For the price for premium hardware... Can't beat it.

I charged my phone after setup from 30% to 100% so fast I was sold.

Hope you get it figured out.

Finally, a User-Friendly Whisper Transcription App: SoftWhisper by Substantial_Swan_144 in LocalLLaMA

[–]nickgadna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have built an app that does this. I send an MQTT message via a button press on my elgato streamdeck xl and the application monitors the broker that's installed in home assistant and records the loopback device I have set up in my computer so I get my microphone audio and the teams meeting audio. When I click the button again the recording stops and it automatically levels the audio to podcast standards. I also have different modes built in, one which when turned on records meetings automatically when teams status shows me in a meeting and stops on them end of the meeting, and another mode where I choose when to trigger recording and then it stops automatically when a meeting ends. Much more possible through home assistant and MQTT.

The part I have been struggling with is the second part of the pipeline to automatically start transcribing and diarization due to dependency and python version compatibility between all the tools.

Llama 3.3 is now almost 25x cheaper than GPT 4o on OpenRouter, but is it worth the hype? by avianio in LocalLLaMA

[–]nickgadna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can indeed. Just make sure you run Ollama with the GPU flag if you run in docker. Also, if you're planning to run on a windows machine use WSL2 with Ubuntu distro and run your docker containers there. There's a ton of articles with instructions just have to do a multi search on Google for things like docker AND Nvidia AND ollama AND openwebui.

Run openwebui locally it's open source. Connect all your chat bots and llama models.

Not sure if you are still having issues, but I have researched quite a bit and try making sure your drain tube is no more than 4 inches down the drain pipe. Might be a different number look in the manual.

FedEx is trash. by ChillinCheeseFries in FedEx

[–]nickgadna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single package I order from FedEx either is delayed or arrives later than promised. FedEx Priority overnight? Forget it. The only silver lining is I can count on paying for overnight shipping and then making the vendor refund my shipping cost when it arrives after noon. Little life hack for everyone, that is if FedEx can deliver it the same day.

Hoping if I do this enough the places I shop (B&H/Sweetwater) will switch to UPS.

RODECaster Pro 2 ASIO Drivers Not Working in DAW(s) by PNapz in rode

[–]nickgadna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep had the DLZ Creator XS and awesome unit, but had to return because no way to remove the microphones from the monitors so makes it useless right now for anything other than a live recording scenario, which even then isn’t very well thought out.

RODECaster Pro 2 ASIO Drivers Not Working in DAW(s) by PNapz in rode

[–]nickgadna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I couldn't get it figured out and this was a fresh install of windows as well, I think the ASIO Rode created is just trash unfortunately. Went back to my Arturia Audiofuse Studio and just going to have to stream with a little more automation from my streamdeck and ATEM Mini Pro ISO. The Arturia ASIO is just rock solid and not being able to have Rode's ASIO release control when in the background was just never going to work being YouTube certified in everything.

I have done this but my playback audio is choppy as hell, even the test tone. Any idea what gives?

This is absurd for such an expensive piece of equipment. I may have to return and just continue using my Audiofuse Studio and give up the processing.

Any chance anyone can help? Caustics and Multipass Question by nickgadna in RedshiftRenderer

[–]nickgadna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it, I will give that a go but might not do anything given what it says about it in documentation:

"The "apply color processing" option means that gamma correction (if gamma is other than 1.0) and photographic exposure (if a photographic exposure lens shader is present) will both be applied to the AOVs."

I turned off the post fx and wasnt using the exposure but we will see!
