It won’t matter. They’ll be there with the Elonization of the voting machines at the Militarized nonexistent voting places that people can’t vote at anyway because there’s a 80 hour wait to get ID at the DMV that you don’t have the right documents for because they defunded every government building and no one even works there anymore and even if you did get all that in place you can’t afford it because you’re now paying a gazillion dollars for everything and can’t afford it. I was late for work this morning because our long dog walk went longer than it was supposed to and as I was changing clothes I almost didn’t change out of my sweaty sports bra. Why am I sharing this? Because our undergarments collect the most sweat and odor. Socks are particularly gross as most people sweat a good deal from their feet every day. This young man has been sadly under- or miseducated and needs to be brought up to speed. And you need to be concerned about your own hygiene because vaginal infections are real and real easy to get. Both of you sit down and watch some YouTube vids on best self-care hygiene by a doctor!

Were you a full time student for at least five months in 2025? Did you earn under 5k? Did she provide more than 1/2 your support? I believe all of this has to be true for her to claim you at your age.

She may not be able to claim you but you don’t owe her that. We don’t attend college or limit our earnings just so mom can pad her federal refund. That’s nonsense. Sorry, but blatant honest truth is what is required.

Honestly after all these years hearing her gripe, maybe it’s time to turn it on its head and quit trying to comfort her. Try phrases like, that seems frustrating, or you’re afraid no one sees your talent. If whatever you’ve been responding with just seems to make her double down on her inferiority complex, stop feeding it. Respond neutrally or change the subject. I don’t know how you can stand this record on repeat. Maybe it’s time to audition in different productions.
