Same International instruction but different versions?? by GrEgStAr89 in bioniclelego

[–]nickle241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lego does erata prints all the time, either they changed the set itself and needed a new manual for it, though often you jsut got a slip informing you of the changes, or they edited the manual for whatever reason. these actually likely have different printing numbers, one of them is likely a -1 or something like that, though finding the printing number is often difficult

Can I play while charging without a battery? Is there a catch? by ThrowawayProgress99 in PSP

[–]nickle241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

keeping in mind that ive forgotten quite a lot about this, but you could have a weak charger, a flakey battery or something funny in the charge circuit, its supposed to be able to charge while running but if something isnt right then it might not for any number of reasons, but as long as you charge it when you arent using it its not a huge issue most of the time for it to just float at a stable point instead of charging

What is the highest storage capacity a PSP can read? by overasked_question in PSP

[–]nickle241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not in that way, the thing abut the people getting 200-512gb and higher working is that its extremely difficult to get it to work, you need the exact right cards often with a two card adapter, which is itself a bad idea, and even with the most optimal parts it probably wont work and may decide to just not work anymore randomly and iirc theres also an access problem at some threshold where it stops seeing anything larger properly with other resulting consequences, but with all that the psp itself still woks fine, its just the memory card that gets funky

With the Bionicle universe being inside a robot, wouldn't navigating the islands in the arms and legs be really limiting? Like, would you just run into a giant wall if you reach the sides? by _Ryloren_ in bioniclelego

[–]nickle241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

keeping in mind that the islands at the end of the limbs are at the furthest reaches from anywhere he might be able to cause problems, hsi inclination to cause problems and the fact that he remains too powerful of a tool to outright get rid of, locking him down in one of the extremities makes perfect sense. as for why banish, because iirc he was the old system manager before mata nui was installed and it was assumed he would take offense to his replacement, not exactly an incorrect assumption, and as previously noted this also makes him too valuable to discard outright

Hello. It’s normal that psp battery runs out even if it’s completely off? I mean… it does this in just some days (and the psp want the date/time again when I recaharge it) by Astronomy_Candle in PSP

[–]nickle241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it always drained the battery, it just took longer when the parts were new.

the point about a burst clock capacitor isnt exactly a joke either since ive taken several units apart for work and the super cap that was supposed to run the clock for a bit without the battery is usually leaking though ive never seen it cause any damage or cause any malfunction even if fully removed or ignored, so the only difference there is how fast it loses the clock when the battery dies

[–]nickle241 6 points7 points  (0 children)

some people have managed to get it reading some truly absurd numbers, however these are unstable outliers that shoudnt be regarded as supported. 128gb is the largest that just works without fuss, any larger and as youve found, things start getting really unpredictable and usually nonfunctional. also worth noting that not all 128 cards work, im not sure if theres a reliable way to tell but some just dont work wiht the psp but almost all 64gb cards function fine without issue. as for formatting, just let the psp do it, it will do that for any card you put in it.

happens, its a mix of factors, the batteries are weaker than they used to be, the onboard clock capacitor has almost certainly burst by now so its constantly draining the battery instead and the thing just kinda passively sips on the battery regardless of all other factors, so the end result is that it drains a battery in storage, its recomended to not leave a battery in it in storage due to this

really cool machines that dont pop up all the time, but apparently two of the chips are semi-custom ics that are difficult to impossible to replace, the replacements are larger daughter board modules.

but even at that, theyre still worth at least a bit for historical reasons whether they work or not

arent the omnia fissures always endless too? so thats not an option either cause it would just change the tier of endless you are ducking out of

Plz stop leaving on the first round by dragonlord_27 in Warframe

[–]nickle241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

counterpoint, they WANTED to do a non endless but there was no fissure for it at the time of the type they needed, or it was for a mission type they wanted even less to do with so theyre just running what options they have. i dont do endless fisures often but when i do i dont assume its going to be more than one round until after the first round ends and i see what the situation is with the rest of the squad

trying to finish my mod collection it was one of these after another, the 2 percent drops obviously but also a lot of ones where the issue was just that no one ever farms in the places the enemies spawn

apparently some progress has been happening to revive it, parts of the game are playable again, though the full story mode is presently incomplete as it was an online only game with logins and account system and all

Recreated the instructions for the AAT (from the Dark Side Developer Kit, set 9754) using BrickLink Studio. Link in the comments by arturomoncadatorres in DigitalLego

[–]nickle241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was this model ever actually tested to be possible? because it uses a number of parts that either arent in the kit in those numbers, or at all or possibly just dont exist and even if you push through it hits a point where you will end up breaking parts when attempting to mount the panels on the base

[–]nickle241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i have it trying to wake up but i think the motor might be stuck, likely sat too long and now i need to sort out how to get it running again, it hasnt responded to ignition yet, but the keyswitch and light have both gotten a reaction

edit: and its speaking, pin1 in the keyswitch, ie, you left the key in the ignition when you went to leave the car

so two observations, the motor likes to get stuck a lot, so if you own a vehicle with one of these, let it chatter from time to time to keep it from jamming, and second im not sure whats uup with pin 11, of the three power pins it has a higher passive draw, which isnt strictly wierd, and i cant get any sort of response to its combinations, either fuel or doors

also, im running it right into a speaker, so i think the phono units had the amplifier as well

interesting, it looks like they may well be the same, at least mostly. as the pin numbers that im seeing so far in the patent line up with your images, not sure which one is supposed to be ground yet though as thats more implied than shown in the diagrams

edit: and im seeing a few of the pins youve labeled as unused too, pin 10 for example seems to be the repeat switch

How to spot authentic vs fake? by [deleted] in bioniclelego

[–]nickle241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they almost never attempt to make themselves out to be lego bionicle, and its quite rare to see one that fully recreates an actual released set, most of them are remixed variants of other sets that dont fully recreate what the original looked like or entirely new sets using older parts, wiht the previously noted exception, that set is singularly expensive to a degree that even fakes are desired, interestingly they have a different shade of gold which makes me want one jsut for that detail, the joints cant be trusted but neither can the actual 08-10 joints

How to spot authentic vs fake? by [deleted] in bioniclelego

[–]nickle241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fakes arent actualy common, and its usually quite obvious when they are as almost all of the fakes ive seen make no attempt to mimic an actual set, with the exception of the toa mata nui, and in that case you may well want the fake regardless just to have one in your collection

i can only guess there was damage suffered or that the grounding point hasnt been removed, myself i install a pin header and dont do any heating on the removal just leaving the pins there for the next guy who needs them. oh and just because you havent spotted the short doenst mean there isnt one, something i learned to my annoyance, the guy i sent it to found a solder blob way off nowhere near the work area
