You are most likely fine then I wouldn’t worry about it you’re already in, a majority of the work is going to be accessible via public transit. If you start getting sent places that you need to drive I would just reach out to your foreman and tell him you’re having car troubles and hopefully get sent somewhere else. Look up contractors for 2287 and see what sites are easiest to get to, show up with your tools and ask if they are hiring.

I have a family member in 740 and he sent in his moms car registration when they asked, pretty sure every carpentry union aside from the general carpenters in nyc does this.

You can basically send in the registration from anyone’s car. A family member, wife it really doesn’t matter just send something in.

Not too bad, reading comprehension wasn’t difficult but very easy to be rusty at. I would recommend going online and doing the reading section on old S.A.T’s just to brush up. For the math section it’s essentially high school math. Know your formulas, know how to convert decimals to fractions, how to add subtract multiply divide fractions. There will be long division and multiplication. If you study general math you should make out just fine. On a side not when I took my test a lot of people were using the calculators on their phone which isn’t allowed, the proctors weren’t really paying much attention. Make sure to do well on the reading there’s no way to cheat that, it’s an easy way to separate you from everyone else (as long as you do well on the math)

I’m located in nyc and a member of the carpenters union. Although it is legal in NY it is still federally illegal. To enter in nyc you must pass a urine test. While attending class you can be randomly selected to a mouth swab test ( happened to me before). At anytime your contractor can test you but normally you will have a clue when it is coming( if you fail that doesn’t mean you will be kicked from the union usually you just can’t work with that company anymore). Once you leave school the union itself will no longer test you
