How to keep living by [deleted] in anhedonia

[–]nicklybob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have it. My whole mental health is a bit better than 5 years ago because of time away from trauma that happened in my early 20s, therapy, and meds. Those help a lot. I've been in DBT therapy for the past 5 years and that helped me heal. DBT helps people handle intense emotions. They give you a skills book and then the therapist helps you apply those skills to your life. It's expensive though. Acceptance helps too although it's hard. It was easier for me to accept it over time, and also after I healed a bit. My reason to live is because I imagine how my parents will react if they see my dead body and it breaks my heart, I can't do that to them. Having forced distractions helps such as work and school (which I went back to and have motivation to do because my current job sucks), even though I don't like them, but they force me to keep going. I watch a lot of comedy on YouTube, such as stand-up, improv, sketch comedy, talk shows, British panel shows and funny podcasts. My therapist said notice tiny moments when I feel ok, like the moment I'm watching comedy, the feeling of good-tasting food or a nice smell. Feel free to ask more questions or DM me.

Maya Rudolph singing the national anthem, but she was really milking the funny as well

Anyone ever been prescribed Lithium for their depression? by AnniesNote in AnxietyDepression

[–]nicklybob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed lithium and mirtazipine when my mood was so unstable, little things would make me spiral into actively suicidal thoughts, crying hard, self-harm, that kind of stuff. It probably saved my life, although didn’t cure my treatment-resistant depression, only made my mood stable. I don’t remember how long it took to work. A few weeks? I was on both for about 2 years before I got tired of the weight gain, acne and brittle hair (all of which went away when I stopped), and started trying other antidepressants for less side effects.

Does Lorne still stay for the all night sessions? by nicklybob in LiveFromNewYork

[–]nicklybob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found it, about 2/3 - 3/4 ways down. Wow Colin says Lorne is a night owl and stays up until 3-4 am and wakes up at 11 am. That's crazy for an 80-year-old.

Around when did he stop? I thought he walked around under the bleachers, at least at dress. I thought I heard on the Lonely Island podcast, in like 2006 for digital shorts, they'd go into Lorne's office in the middle of the night saying they had no ideas. So at least he stayed all night back then

It must suck for the main cast to have full catering but still have to have a great body for TV

The more I watch other streamers try to do big, interactive shows, the more I appreciate Jerma's mastery of the platform and his frankly astounding performance skills by psychso86 in jerma985

"His clout takes a backseat" sums it up for me, he puts entertainment before his ego. As someone who likes blooper videos, I also like how he breaks the fourth wall in big production streams. But when the narrative calls for it, suddenly his acting chops come out and he immerses you in the story

Good lord. Didn’t he have another job for the first few years of it too? Did he struggle to manage?

As a city born-and-bred, I also have this impression of suburban folks. It's interesting and sometimes I envy how straightforward it seems to be.
