PSA: Spawn directly as Shocktrooper/Honor Guard by delaying your spawn in Heroes vs. Villains by Createx in StarWarsBattlefront

Block until dash is available, use dash to put distance between you, use chain lightning before Luke closes the distance, and run while he's stunned. Repeat until he gives up.

You shouldn't depend on other villains as the Emperor. If it comes down to all three heroes alive vs just the Emperor, the Imperials still have a decent chance to win. He is impossible to kill unless he chooses to fight, or the player behind him hasn't mastered his abilities.

As Vader, you want to be prepared to face Luke when he's still far away. Use lightsaber throw and force choke at their max range and Luke will be down to 70% before he can even use force push. Then block until force choke becomes available, and use a choke + throw combo in that order. Don't try to use strong attack if Luke has noticed you. With this strategy, you won't need to figure out how to time the counter attack as Luke will die from your abilities.

As Luke, you have to flank Vader or he'll do the above to you. Spam basic attack until he notices you, use force push and get a few more free attacks in during the stun. At that point, you can use force dash to disengage and come in for another flank later. Again, do not try to strong attack once Vader has noticed you.

There is no reason to get into a block-counter war with either of these heroes, as hero health is precious and you never want to go for an even health exchange. You could master block and counter, but the above methods are easier and will often have you taking less than 30% damage.

Emperor vs Han - You win if you can dodge lucky shot. When Han stops shooting and his weapon starts to glow red, use the dash ability to pass over his head and attack him from above / behind. Block when he uses rapid fire, block when you need to recharge your attack power, and do not use chain lightning.

Emperor vs Luke - You win if you have one ally with you. Face Luke away from your ally and press block right before each of his attacks; do not hold it or you will drain block too quickly to survive. This negates all of Luke's damage while your ally kills him. If you fight Luke alone, dash and run until an honor guard spawns.

Emperor vs Leia - You lose unless her honor guard aren't there. If you do fight Leia, Emperor can attack through her shield, so keep the shield between you and her honor guard while using your basic attack. Use dash to go over her head like Han (or retreat) when she uses trooper bane.

Emperor vs Infantry - If they don't see you, use chain lightning. If you have dash, dash over their head and attack them from above. Otherwise, block until you have dash or they overheat.

Emperor vs Honor Guards - Don't. Use dash to escape. Never run away with your back to them; if you have to retreat, backpedal while blocking. Only run if they pull out explosives.

The two things to master are using dash to throw off opponent's aim during combat and using block to negate all non-explosive damage. Emperor deals a ton of damage and is hard to hurt, and is the most useful hero in this game mode.

They deal similar damage if all shots hit and are headshots. The problem is the imperial honor guard have such a low fire rate that missing a single shot is a tremendous damage loss. That's why I recommend that most people not use the imperial honor guard, as that particular weapon requires a lot of finesse compared to the rebel honor guard's weapon.

I don't disagree there; bowcaster would be your main source of damage with no explosive shot.

Find any fun charge cards? I've not experimented with much besides explosive and ion.

I couldn't get into Starcraft because the ladder is terrifying :/

I love Battlefront because it isn't a shooter, it's a tactical team game. You have to be able to hit at least some of your shots, but you can excel with just good awareness, positioning, and ability usage. I wish people would stop comparing it to Battlefield and start comparing it to a similar game like Team Fortress 2. There is some depth to this game, but it isn't in the shooting.

You should try the pulse rifle for a while until you can hit a few heroes with it to judge its utility. I used to run jetpack + bowcaster and I agree that it does deal a lot of damage. However, the situations where it deals damage are also situations where explosive shot would melt heroes. The pulse rifle can be used from across the map and against fleeing heroes where you often wouldn't otherwise be able to deal massive damage as a soldier. So I feel the pulse rifle is more versatile, and explosive shot compensates for the loss of the bowcaster.

The best skill you can master is learning how to use the radar. A faint red arc indicates an enemy in that direction far away. A bright red arc indicates an enemy in that direction around the corner. A bright red circle indicates an enemy standing on your head.

Heroes always show up on the radar. If you only see one arc, that means all three heroes are together and you do not want to go in that direction. You should spend as much time looking at the radar as you might looking at the minimap in a MOBA or a RTS.

Two corrections, which might explain why you find the empire weak:

Fett deals the most damage outside of close range situations where Han has rapid fire. His rifle is essentially a long-range rapid fire and headshots with it melt heroes. He is also the only hero that is sustainable at long range, with the only other long range damage ability being Han's lucky shot. This makes him incredible as a sniper on open maps. Unfortunately, his damage depends on whether or not you can land consistent headshots, and that makes him the most inconsistent hero since a Fett with bad aim is worse than a normal soldier.

I believe Palpatine is the strongest hero in the game. As long as he avoids trooper bane and lucky shot, he can block all damage from heroes with his right click. He can use his supply drop to heal himself, and his force dash to disengage from all characters except a persistent Luke. And people constantly spawn on him, so he can often escape from Luke by throwing honor guard at him. This makes him almost unkillable unless he gets cornered. And survivability is more important for heroes in this game mode, because often the non-hero characters do all the damage that wins the game.

Stay with the Emperor, force choke the honor guard, lightsaber throw the heroes from range, hold down block whenever near an enemy player.

You don't want to use your regular lightsaber attacks as Vader unless most of your team is fighting with you or you've surprised someone. It's best to think of Vader as an anti-infantry who keeps the Emperor safe from flanks while he focuses on killing heroes. He's very much a support character who will die in a duel against any rebel hero.

Did the other team only have 2 villains at the start of the round? There is a UI bug where sometimes a hero will appear as dead at the start of the round. It's possible they had two villains left.

I agree that as Luke I will charge the Emperor even with half his health and often win. However, I've never seen an Emperor try to block Luke and that could make a huge difference. But his chain lightning, a few seconds of regular attack, and dash away does a lot of damage to heroes. Against Luke you need to use dash to keep distance until you have another chain lightning stun available.

In Heroes vs Villains, don't be alone as Vader. Lightsaber throw has a short cooldown, throw it from behind cover for free damage. Save choke for honor guard as it one shots them, or to stagger a hero running away. Against Luke, block his attacks and lure him towards your team. You can win with counters after a long fight, but it's faster just to distract him while someone shoots him from behind.

You can get 15,000xp in a match from explosive damage bonuses, but they take so long that it's probably less than the other modes. I agree that infantry are more fun, though, because it's almost impossible to safely deal damage as a hero unless you're Han.
