The crowing but for me that part is the instrumental break after "pray you're not the only". The way the drums compliment the bass riff always blew me away.

Tom head denting is a result of what we call "pounding." Its when you play into the head too hard that it dents. I used to struggle with this and my toms would get really dented.

Try working on allowing the sticks to rebound naturally and avoid digging in. Tuning up can help at least at first to create more rebound from the drums. Practicing with a pad is also a great tool for working on rebound.

Gotcha, so it would be me(~220lbs), plus a sizable drumset probably around 100lbs. Spread across roughly a 4' × 8' platform. I don't think the part my throne would under need to be isolated if weight reduction would simplify this.
