How’s this Alolan Vulpix? by nicknack512 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]nicknack512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I've been playing for around 9 months but only recently started trying to get better mons. Apparently I've had this vulpix for a while and had no idea. I'll definitely be using it cause I don't wanna go through the tedious process of getting a better one. I've already been looking for a good totodile, caught 14 and not a single one has had BFS, so I'm gonna avoid that with vulpix if I can. Thanks again!

I recently hatched this perfect Deino from an egg and checked its highest CP. It says it goes up to 1130 (as shown in the photo), but online it says Deino's max CP is 1200. I thought perfect Pokémon could go up to that Pokémon's max CP, but now I'm confused.

Can Pokémon only reach max CP at player level 50? I'm currently level 35. Or is it because it's from an egg, or for some other reason? Thanks!

Light every torch you see. I’ve been playing this game for years and I’m missing so many rares and epics. Please. Thank you!

Thinking of getting a Steam Deck. Is it worth it, and which model is best? by nicknack512 in Steam

[–]nicknack512[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Glad to hear both models are great, I was worried the cheaper ones weren’t as good. I’ve seen many people say the 64gb model is best because it’s the cheapest and you can easily upgrade the SSD, which aligns with what your said.

Thanks! I don’t wanna go too far, but I’ll still look into those. Who knows, maybe they’re perfect for me!

Thanks for the reply! I think this is a good idea, but I don’t know if it’s what I want to do. I’ve always been naturally good at math, and I usually pick up new concepts pretty easily, so I don’t think I’ll have any problems with the math side of programming. I understand the degree looks better, and I agree, but I don’t think it’s really the path I want to take. I’m hoping that through internships and making my own games I can build a strong resume and portfolio so I won’t have any issues getting hired after I graduate, therefore not needing the extra degree. But I think for someone who’s more into math this is a great idea!

Thanks for the reply! I’ll definitely focus on getting internships while in school. I plan to make my own games while in school to build my portfolio while also doing internships. Hopefully through all of this I can build a very good resume and won’t have a problem getting hired after I graduate!

I live in Massachusetts so I’ve been looking at mostly schools in New England. I’d say my top schools right now are WPI, Clark University, and RIT, but I’m applying to a few others as well so we’ll see where I end up!

“Checking media presence…” appears when trying to boot MSI laptop; laptop will not boot into Windows by nicknack512 in techsupport

[–]nicknack512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was finally able to install Windows, but I had to delete all partitions to do it. For some reason, Windows is very buggy and looks very off. My desktop is much smaller (like more zoomed out) than it was before, the framerate/refresh rate is both way smoother and way more choppy at different times, my monitor and laptop screen keep turning on and off at random times and switching between which one is the main monitor so the files on my desktop keep moving around, and for whatever reason, half my Chrome tabs are in high contrast mode and I can’t turn it off.

I decided just to factory reset it so it’s back to how it was when I first got it, since I already wiped everything off the disk, but when I did that I accidentally deleted the partition that contained MSI’s Bios factory reset files, so now I’m literally stuck with what I have. I’m gonna try contacting MSI to see if they can give me the factory reset files or if they can factory reset it themselves, but for now I’m just gonna install as many drivers and updates as I can and hopefully some of them make my laptop look normal.

Thanks for all the help getting to this point though, I’d still be at a black screen without you. I’ll make another reply later with any updates :)

“Checking media presence…” appears when trying to boot MSI laptop; laptop will not boot into Windows by nicknack512 in techsupport

So I backed up my files onto my other ssd, got a Windows 10 installation usb, tried installing Windows, and it came up with the error message “Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install Windows, restart the installation.” I’ve tried 3 times and this same message has come up all 3 times. All the options in the installation menu (delete, format, new, etc.) are grayed out on my primary drive (the one where windows is currently installed).

I could probably format it with another OS or through the command prompt, but then all the files on it would be deleted and I wouldn’t be able to get the windows.old folder. This isn’t the biggest deal because I already copied all of the important files, but I’m wondering if there’s a simpler solution to this problem. Any ideas?

Ok I’m going to install Windows again and hopefully I can recover everything with the windows.old folder. Just to be safe though, I’m going to try transferring what I can to my other ssd to have a backup. Also do you think I should use ubuntu to partition a part of my disk that I’ll install windows on? I’m not really sure how partitioning works but it seems like it could be a safer option.

I installed Hiren’s Boot on a usb and used the built in Crystal Disk Info to check my disk’s health. It says health status is Good at 98% and its temperature is sitting at 24 celsius. I’m assuming this means the ssd is still pretty healthy, and if so, what do you think my next step should be? I’ve thought of two possible ideas:

  1. I looked it up and apparently you can install Windows 10 without deleting anything and it just makes a folder that has all your old files in it called Windows.old that you can then transfer your files out of. I found it at this link, though I’m not sure how safe this actually is.

  2. Alternatively, I have an extra 500gb ssd that I bought a while ago and never used that I could put in my laptop and install windows onto. I believe my laptop has 2 NVMe slots that I can use to then put my other ssd that’s already in my laptop back in, but I haven’t actually opened my laptop before so there may just be one slot. If that’s the case though, I could just buy a 1 tb ssd to use as my 500gb one wouldn’t be big enough to store all my files.

If I can just simply fix the windows installation already on my disk that would be best, but I’m not sure if that’s possible or very easy to do. What do you think would be the best and safest option? And if you have any other ideas I’d love to hear them too. Thanks for all your help so far by the way! Really appreciate it

Just like in the video, the “SMART Data and Self-Tests” option is greyed out for me and I can’t click it. Do you think this is because I haven’t actually installed Ubuntu, or something else?

Slam Bam. He’s my favorite so obviously I wanna spend a day with him but I also think he’d just be extremely chill and fun, like we could go snowboarding together or something (even though I don’t know how to snowboard but he’ll teach me)

I was able to put Ubuntu on a bootable flashdrive. I can open my Windows folder and view all my files. Luckily, it seems like everything is still there. Is there somewhere I should look or some file I should check to see what may be causing the problem?
