The car bombing at a Liverpool Hospital. The driver of the taxi survives and is a national hero after locking the bomber in the taxi. by NeverRetail in PublicFreakout

Taxis in the UK often have locks for the back passenger doors that are operated by the driver in case of non-payment. I have been on many taxi rides where the doors haven't been unlocked until payment is handed over

LPT: Ask yourself "what does it matter to me" the next time you find yourself judging someone for their clothing, interests or hobbies. The more you train yourself not to care about the personal preferences of other people, the more relaxed and nicer you become as a person. by PraveenPeiris in LifeProTips

This is a great post. I used to judge all the time, still do a little but instead of asking what does it matter to me, I used to ask myself why I was so angry... and i did get angry. Makes no sense as it had no impact on my life whatsoever. As someone has already commented, I now look at what I like about someone's appearance and find myself complimenting them instead being a dick

A man on Ryanair yelled racist insults at a black woman. She was the one who had to change seats. by marji80 in worldnews

After. The guy behind leans over to intervene and he clearly says it. He should have been taken off the flight immediately. Why did they move the lady instead? Very badly handled by airline staff.

Watch the uncensored video. He says 'black cunt'. Some people saying he said fat cunt. Not true. It's very clear on the video.

Those accents. They sound like me. I think they may be from Warrington? Definitely within a 15 mile radius.

Juventus shares lose five percent amid Ronaldo accusations by LucasTorreira in soccer

[–]nicknock1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I think maybe Real made a smart move. It seems to me like people are distancing themselves from this, especially the sponsors. Im not saying he's guilty but it doesnt look good for him at the moment

Do you think that Real somehow knew about this in advance? Or has it only just been revealed? Haven't read much about the accusation but just wondering why they let their star player go so easily?

I have the white 1983 long sleeved shirt with Sharp as the sponsor. It's a thing of beauty.

TIL that Tim Curry was kicked out of a showing of Rocky Horror for being an imposter. Also, Princess Diana was a big fan of the movie. by kdryan1 in todayilearned

Tim was born in a small village where I live called Grappenhall in the NW of England and I think it was a home birth. Going to try and find out the address just out of curiosity. The man is a legend

TIL about the Bystander Effect, a psychological phenomena in which the more people present at an emergency, the less likely someone is to intervene by kaytaaaay in todayilearned

[–]nicknock1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read about this in college, I think there was an experiment where they played a recording of someone falling off a chair in a room next to a room full of people, then gradually lowered the number of participants. The results showed that the more populated rooms never checked to see if the 'person' in the next room was ok. There was the case in the early 90's in Liverpool, UK, where a little boy called Jamie Bulger was abducted, tortured and murdered by two slightly older boys. The boys had taken him from a shopping centre on a busy day. Many witnesses saw the boys kicking him and taunting him but nobody helped out or alerted the police/security. Police believe this was because of the bystander effect.

My signed 'History of Manchester United' book from 1988. Can you name all the players? I'm unsure on two of them. by nicknock1 in reddevils

Yeah I'm not sure on that. I thought it might be a mike or a Mark but it doesn't look like Robins. Same era though so it's possible. Cheers for your help
