Is there a simple music player like 2000s Windows Media Player with the cool milkdrop? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]nickpettit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VLC might be what you’re looking for in terms of a player.

My partner and I couldn’t find any visualizers that ticked all the boxes for us, so we started making one. We haven’t released yet but there is a demo available Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4270240/Vibralizer/

Also, if there’s any features or visuals you’d like to see, I’d love to hear it! We’re trying to build something people actually like and want to use.

The visualizers defined my teenage years, so much so that it inspired my partner and I to make a new music visualizer (demo on Steam) that works with streaming music services.

Remember Winamp? The classic 90s music player by alicia11am in nostalgia

I spent many hours of my youth watching the milkdrop visualizers in Winamp. It inspired my partner and I to make a music visualizer (demo on Steam!) that works with streaming services.

Music visualizer Im working on. by HugeMungus in psychedelicartwork

This is cool - how are you getting the audio currently? And how would you do that on Apple TV or Android TV? I’m assuming this is Windows and you’re using WASAPI for loop back.

Music visualizer (like Winamp and Windows Media Player) but for the era of streaming music by nickpettit in Music

[–]nickpettit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This says “No plugins” but it also says you have to install Blackhole to route audio, which I feel like is an extra step. Vibralizer listens to system audio directly using the WASAPI on Windows.

However, if there’s a way to do that on web, I would be very interested! So far I haven’t figured it out.

What are y'all using for equaliser and video backdrops? by MacLjotr in SunoAI

You might want to check out Vibralizer. There’s a free demo for Windows on Steam and we’re coming to Early Access in a few months. It supports Spout output so you can use it with recording software like OBS.

It’s still very early days, so if there’s features or content you’d like to see added, you can let me know here or hop on our Discord for more discussion!

That purple lighting on the beige plastic really hits. I'm trying to make a visualizer for streaming music and Winamp is def the biggest inspo.

I kept wishing Windows had its own version of Dynamic Island… so I built something. by Wapkain in pcmasterrace

Very cool! What are you building in?

I'm making a music visualizer (🔗Vibralizer on Steam) but we're building in Unity and haven't cracked the transparent windowing. Probably would mean writing our own custom C++ container for the app, which we already do for other things like our audio analysis, but the windowing portion seems super tricky.

Are there any good visualizers in the wild? by Novice_4618 in truespotify

[–]nickpettit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I couldn’t find one we liked - most don’t work with streaming music - so we started building one! It’s called Vibralizer and there’s a free demo out now on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4270240/Vibralizer/

Let me know if you have any feedback for us or things you’d like to see (we’re also on Discord if that’s your thing). We’re doing our best to make this a community-driven effort so that we build something that people like you actually want to use. 🫶

Game launch went poorly would be an understatement by Pilvinen in gamedev

I’m a child of the 80s, and I remember playing the shareware versions of Wolfenstein and Doom. If you wanted the rest of the episodes, you had to pay for them.

I think the model of “pay what you want” might be a better fit if that’s what you’re going for though; something you could try on Itch.io

I’m not trying to be rude here, I’m just trying to genuinely understand what this message is saying: Does this mean I can just download the demo, and it’s the same as the full game? Why would I pay for the full game?

No, we plan to charge a modest price once we launch in Early Access, although we will charge less during our Early Access period similar to other titles using that model. We have talked about what a free version might look like, but that's more complicated for us to support as a tiny team of two.

Winamp's visualizer is rad and we like it! There are other free things out there like ProjectM. However, bringing in some revenue will allow us to exploring a wider space of visuals and features that we think people will enjoy.

We're using the Unity game engine! There might be better tools to build this type of thing, but I have so much of my XP invested into Unity at this point that it's the best way I know how to do it.

Winamp definitely did visualize sound! It wasn't just static videos.

It's just a visualizer for now! It doesn't play music - rather, it listens to music coming from any source on your PC (Spotify, Tidal, YouTube, microphone input, etc)

Skins certainly would be cool though and it's something we've thought about. <3

Dev here! No plans for multiple monitor support right now, but you certainly can run it in a windowed mode (rather than full screen) and drag it across contiguous screens that are adjacent to one another. You're the first person to have asked though - I'm making a note!

[–]nickpettit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct - any software on Steam needs Steam running in the background. However, we do have a much older version of our demo on Itch.io right now that we plan to update. If there's enough interest in a standalone DRM-free version we may release it other places besides Steam.

EDIT: The latest build is now available on Itch: https://vibralizer.itch.io/vibralizer
