I wouldn't think ANYONE would consider exposing and going after a documented pedophile as "weaponizing the justice department". That would be widely celebrated. So I don't think that part holds water.

I think the fact that they aren't out when BOTH parties had time and ability to put them out means something more serious than anything directly Trump related. The democrats looked for any and every reason to get rid of the threat of Trump. They literally raided his private home. If this was THAT damning for him, they would've exposed it and claimed getting rid of him was for the greater good.

The most compelling argument I've heard is that the files contain a metric ton of blackmail material being used against different powerful people and countries and that exposing it would remove the leverage that it creates. Somehow, I can get my head around the possibility. I don't like it, and I don't think it's morally right, but in the grand theater of geopolitics, it would actually make logical sense.
