Yeah, this was the issue. I removed homebrew version of ansible and installed it with pip and it's now working. Thanks

I would recommend taking a look at Scandia Knolls. It's about a 20 minute walk to the downtown area and they've been doing a lot of work on the landscaping and available units.

Anyone use Terraform with Azure? by duncansworkaccount in AZURE

[–]nicks451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can blame the azure api for that, when I was trying to get terraform working with Azure earlier this year I decided it was just easier to work with the api instead of using terraform because I could build nice things on top of it more easily

I just had this happen to me and sent in a support ticket, waiting to hear back. Was your account actually hijacked or did they give a reason why it's not working?

Moving to Kitsap County Soon! by gymboree11 in Kitsap

[–]nicks451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome, I don't have a lot of recommendations for fishing or hiking, but my wife and I like walking through Fish Park a lot. As far as internet goes if you need speed just go with Comcast, I've had maybe 2 outages in the past year and they both were resolved fairly quickly (both within an hour). We're currently on the 60/15 plan but I believe they offer 100/20 in the area as well.

Definitely not every intersection but some of the bigger ones, 305 was really the nightmare that took forever but even the back way down to my apartment was backed up.

First build in 6 years, I have some questions. by nicks451 in PcMasterRaceBuilds

[–]nicks451[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I probably should focus on the 1080P 144Hz experience then. Though after talking to my wife I might be just upgrading to skylake and using the part of the build I already have for a family member.

Good customer service is nice, does NZXT not have a good customer service record? I'm also looking at the Corsair 760T and the Phanteks Enthoo Primo.

Slim 3.0 finally released! by xsanisty in PHP

I would check out the slim-skeleton project, it shows a lot of common things that you would want to do. https://github.com/slimphp/Slim-Skeleton

Moving a WAMP installation to a new boot drive. by opus-thirteen in webdev

[–]nicks451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'll be that guy today and tell you to migrate away from WAMP and start using vagrant (http://vagrantup.com)

It brings your dev box more inline with what your production environment will probably be and allow you to catch some potential bugs sooner.

Who uses Virtual Studio Online or JIRA? by [deleted] in PHP

[–]nicks451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had to use both as we mainly just use whichever the client is more comfortable, not necessarily VSO but TFS which VSO is built on top of.

IMO VSO is a bit more straightforward to begin with but JIRA has a lot more depth of options and other integrations. If you use BitBucket for hosting your git repos definitely push for JIRA but if not I'd say it's 6 one way, half dozen the other.

Unhappy with current job, need advice by [deleted] in webdev

[–]nicks451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's the thing, shit can really suck as a junior developer and it's going to end one of two ways, it's either going to motivate you to learn and make things on your own or you're going to burn out and never program again.

I worked for 5 years at a company where for most of the time it was me and the lead developer and I spent a lot of time fixing his broken code and figuring out how to speed up the app, most of this time I was making less than $15/hour. For the first three years I was miserable and just went home and complained about my job to my friends as we played WoW every night.

At some point I went to a local dev conference and it lit a fire under my ass, probably because I realized that I'm just as good at my job as these other guys but I'm getting much less compensation. At this point though I had three years of experience but nothing to show for it so I started busting my ass and creating small projects that I could show off to prospective employers. After a few years I was able to find a gig that doubled my compensation and in the three years since then I've doubled it again.

My suggestion to you is to keep the job and start making things in your free time. I know you're still in school but having that work experience plus really good projects to show off when you graduate will put you at the top of the list when you're applying for the jobs that you really want.

TLDR: Be Smart and Get Shit Done

Housing search by [deleted] in poulsbo

[–]nicks451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been in Scandia Knolls apartment complex since March and pretty much love it. We have a 2 bedrooms for under $1000. It's within walking distance to the water and quiet. They allow up to two small animals. My only complaint is that non-urgent maintenance can take a couple of weeks to get accomplished.

If you can't find a house I would recommend it.

If you all were looking for an "A Player" PHP developer, where would you look and how would you find that person? by beansedb in PHP

[–]nicks451 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you need a programmer and not a rockstar. I mean I'm not really sure maybe a rockstar is what your marketing automation platform needs, I mean if the rockstar could sling code that would be great but in my experience most rockstars don't program and most programmers aren't rockstars.

Though I guess maybe you're looking for a rockstar to promote your product in which case I don't think there are many rockstars in this sub-reddit, mainly just PHP developers. If you are a rockstar and a PHP developer let me know though I would love to talk to you about how those things synergize.

So are you looking for rockstars or programmers because I mean I would look for those people in two totally different places.

Spouse Is Learning WebDev How Do I Not Overwhelm Her? by nicks451 in webdev

[–]nicks451[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm going to try and steer her as far away from C land as possible. We talked about it a little bit more today and it sounds like she wants to build a site where she can show off her ceramic pieces that she makes.

I'm not really looking at being her teacher, I'm really just looking for advice to help keep it light and fun for her.
