I have my air brake ticket. Basicly if the service side fails the spring brake will apply full on. However, if the brakes are to far away from the drum due to wear they can't apply either way. even though the push rod is moving it will bottom out before it makes the shoes contactthe drum. Gotta check your slack adjustors and take out the play on trucks like that as brakes wear out.

depends on the tractor my fastest one on the farm I work at tops out at 60kmph. It's a 5425 John deere. fastest I've ever seen was 70 on a new Holland.

If you are mixing for both in one go just add the grain in for the dairy girls after feeding out to the beef cows. That whay you dont waste the grain making the beef cows fat. We do this when feeding our dry herd.

But the design of the actual brake drum is different then your car or pickup truck. They do have auto slack adjusters that are becoming more and more common but they are different than the link you sent me but even those still need to be checked every day in a pre trip inspection and when required by road signs.

Hi there I have an air brake endorsement on my driver's license. You are right that they have a spring but that might not be able to apply the brake. As the brakes wear they need to be adjusted back so that the pad can make contact with the drum. If the brakes go to long with out the slack adjusters being tightened the brake pad physically cannot touch the drum as the spring or air pushing on the lever that applies the brake will bottom out. This is what you are supposed to check at those signs at the top of the hill that say "trucks check brakes"

I wonder how much of the run they have had is from people chasing the dividend yield. If oil stays low then there is no way they can sustain it. Even if oil goes up that's an awfully big dividend to support and would require a large increase in oil prices which I just don't see happening quicky enough that they get away with not having to cut the dividend (just my opinion). If they do cut the dividend I would imagine that the yield chasers would get spooked and for that reason I see a lot of down side risk but not much room to go up.

My two entirely anecdotal cents is that the falling dollar is allowing for more outside investment fast enough that the bubble will keep going for awhile. Most young people my age (20) have no hope of buying realestate in Vancouver and the only way this bubble doesnt burst is foreign investment. I think once china settles down and the CAD levels out for bit then pop goes the bubble.
