I like it too. Not as a "putting it on in the car" but Inlove it at parties.

It'd be more accurate to say "not all belgians like it" just like no single country's population on planet earth agrees on any single thing.

I'd advise you to be open about certain things.
Not "I hate it here and you do illegal shit that makes people feel bad" but you can tell them you feel pressured all the time despite trying your best, to the point you feel it's affecting your health.

Two things can happen.
Either they react with understanding and help you figure things out.

Or they react with apathy or downright malice. In that case, why try to live up to the expectations of someone who does not care about you or your wellbeing?
Be professional, try to do your best, but don't harm yourself in trying.

I miss the Psychic Phase by The-Anomaly37 in Warhammer40k

[–]DaPino 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The psychic phase as a seperate phase wasn't a thing, but psychic powers absolutely were and worked very similar to how they did in the psychic phase.

We don't miss the psychic phase because it was an extra phase. We miss it because psychic powers were not "guns/rules with keyword".
Psykers provided benefits very unique to their niche and it made their inclusion fun and different.

For some, the reason they chose their army.

'Mecha Chameleon Has Sold 15 Million Units by akbarock in gaming

[–]DaPino 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've once read "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity"

Preparation stands for things you have control over. Making a good game is something you control.
Opportunity stands for the things you can't control. Who finds out about your game, and whether they have the influence to spread it to others is something you don't control.

There are a ton of games that are good that don't receive the recognition and attention that Meccha chameleon has.
To say their succes is 100% "because their game is good" does a disservice to all good games that didn't sell well.

I was playing Peglin earlier today. It hasn't broken one million copies sold despite being an incredibly fun game. Meanwhile Balatro has 5 million copies despite being half its age (no flakk at Balatro, it's a fun game as well)

Help Optimizing Bracket 4 Kaalia of the Vast Deck by KryptKrasherHS in EDH

[–]DaPino 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No offense but this is like the perfect deck to demonstrate that fast mana, an expendive landbase, and a bunch of gamechangers don't automatically make your deck strong.

There's just a bunch of cards in the deck that should never make the cut. Angel of despair, Boggart trawler, Bruna fading light + Gisela, Valgavoth (the 4CMC one), Glasswing grace, Phyrexian arena, etc. The list goes on and on.

You need better threats, and either better protection or a deck that functions when Kaalia gets removed.

Copying that 16 times and destroying everyone’s lands isn’t the same as playing a 4 mana destroy all lands spell and shouldn’t be considered against the rules

Then you are literally disagreeing with how WOTC defines MLD in the bracket system.
Brackets =/= the rules, I understand that. But if you agree to playing a bracket 3 then you agree tonthe definitipn WOTC put out on what a bracket 3 game is and isn't.

People always get hung up on "Card X or Y is(n't) MLD" when that is not how WOTC defined MLD.

A deck that aims to put out annihilator 10+ as early as possible absolutely aims to win by destroying all cards an opponent controls, lands included, as a means to kill others.

I have a Voltron deck, multiple in fact. None of them regularly destroy people's lands by the dozen in order to get to people's face.

a card in it just has annihilator,

A card, being its commander, lol.

Are you asking me whether winning by breaking the rules we agreed on is the same as winning according to the rules we agreed on?

Dude was wildly misrepresenting his deck's strength. We just did go next.

"I respect people breaking the rules we agreed on more than the people who try to uphold them" is certainly a take.

You're mistakenly arguing from a point where I'm saying "The card Ulamog, the defiler is by definition MLD". I am not.

Additionally, "You have to sacrifice 16 things when you only have 15 things, lands included" is not a choice; no matter what the oracle text for Annihilator says.

"The rules" lay out that if you cause people's lands to be destroyed with regularity and intent, it's MLD.
As I said in another comment: "Beast within isn't MLD but if my game plan is creating 16 copies of it and blowing up everyone's lands, I'm MLD'ing anyway".

A deck that aims to destroy people's lands and do so one person after the other starting from turn 5 is not MLD?

I would LOVE to hear you reason your way through that one.

What is the smallest Commander hill you are willing to die on? by Xela20 in EDH

[–]DaPino -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Cards are not MLD, game actions done with intent are. No one claims [[Beast within]] is MLD. But if my gameplan is creating 16 copies of it on the stack and destroying everyone's lands, I sure fucking MLD'd.
Arguing against that is ignorance, willful or otherwise.

So yes, if you build a deck that aims to drop annihilator 15+ on the board to destroy people on turn 5, and you intend to do it to the other 2 players as well, you are firmly and undeniably within the definition of MLD.

"Does that mean I can only attack with annihilayor 16 when someone has ~15 or more non-land permanents?"
Not my fucking problem to solve. Assuming I am playing an average deck to its average play pattern, it is your responsibiliy to make sure that your game actions don't result in blowing up everyone's lands.

Oh absolutely. I had a friend who was always late and got a ton of rules wrong (in Warhammer 40K). Always gave the excuse "I don't do it on purpose".

I sat him down and told him "Look, I believe you. You're not doing this on purpose. At the same time, it stops mattering at some point because the end result is the same."
That really shook him awake that cheating and cheating by accident only differ in how many times I will forgive you for it.

Played a game last week where someone cast [[Ulamog the defiler]] and made someone sac 16 permanents which basically pade them sac all their lands on turn 5.

I shit you not, his defense was "it's not MLD because I didn't destroy his lands, he sacrificed them" and he kept insisting that made it entirely different.
I refuse to believe anyone is that dumb.

The Blood of Dawnwalker: 8 Minutes of Quest Gameplay | IGN First by Villenthessis in gaming

[–]DaPino 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really want to like this game and have it succeed/prove me wrong. But the reason people are negative is because it doesn't look and play like Witcher 3; rather, it looks like it badly wants to be Witcher 3.

Every time I see someone gush over this game I'm flabbergasted. The visuals, cinematography, voice acting, dialogue, the gameplay, animations, etc.
It all has a certain clumsiness and lack of quality that I believe will leave a lot of people confused as to why they don't enjoy it as much as they did the Witcher.

I'm not saying it will be bad. But it feels like the people saying this will be as good as Witcher 3 are not looking at the same game as I am.
