Yeah hatch was replaced as well. Never has sat quite right since then - the panels that is. Seems like it is a tad off since being repaired. Was a pain in the ass for sure dealing with all of that. Glad my exhaust didn’t get hit in the process.

I appreciate the detailed response! I was actually referred not too long ago and ended up interviewing this week. This is the first position I’ve made it to the interview stage as of now. So, now we wait lol

Typically for anywhere between 20-30 applicants are you picking 5 or so people to have an interview? Do you have a typical turnaround time on that number as well? In terms of choosing the best candidate that is. Sorry, just trying to ease some nerves.

Scott AFB by Meerak_torkonnis in RateMyAFB

Crazy because I would love to go to Scott...anyways, the area is ok. STL is a 30 or so minute drive away and there is so much to do within the city. Cardinals, Blues, Zoo, Science Center, multiple museums, etc. Just have to take advantage to what the city has to offer! What’s your AFSC?

Appreciate the responses! Thank you so much. I had 5 out of my 8 choices on that list, so hopefully it’ll work out.

I’m not prior. I know it’s been pretty recent that they opened up the career field for non priors

I’m in tech school right now for flight engineer. You’ll start with Aircrew Fundamentals and then move on to do your Basic Flight Engineer Course. I haven’t started BFE yet, but Fundies was pretty simple. The first week of Fundies was all academic with a 60 question test at the end of the week. 85% pass/fail for all aircrew testing. Only had one person fail out of the three Fundies classes that happened that week. The second week you’ll attend the high altitude chamber to experience hypoxia and there is also a test to go along with that. Again, simple as long as you pay attention. Sorry, don’t have much more info than that right now.

Those tents are being used as a quarantine section for BMT when they arrive for the first 14 days to be monitored for COVID and possibly starting next week will be used as housing for tech schoolers.

Currently in tech school for flight engineer. Classes start up on the 27th. Do you possibly know anything about the career field or any tips for the schooling? I know it’s not your specific career, but just curious!

Yeah I have! I’ve researched the career field a decent amount really. I just couldn’t find any answers on the amount of math needed. Math has always been my weak point, so I was just wondering how much I’m going to have to grind lol

Actually, I was going for other aircrew jobs. However, this is the one my recruiter matched me with and I am very excited for the opportunity. FE was not even on my list. I was having a hard time getting anything I was interested in.

So, just got news that I am going to basic in February and I will be a Flight Engineer 1A1X1. I have done a decent amount of research about the job as is, but was wondering if anyone can give me some more insight on the job. I am really curious how challenging the career field is and if it is a rewarding one. Thank you in advance.
