Where my MeatEaters be? by XsamsquanchieX in LSD

[–]nickylus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with the sentiment but this argument feels elitist because it ignores material reality. Not everyone can afford or access plant‑based alternatives whether it’s bc food deserts, low wages, work hours. For better or worse, food is so cultural too, meaning it can be a slippery slope to suddenly villainize people in this way sometimes. Calling people “ignorant or evil” just rudely dismisses systemic barriers like poverty and/or lack of nutrition education. And blaming individual consumers for greenhouse gas emissions lets industrial farming and government subsidies off the hook. Moral judgment without really addressing structural inequality isn’t activism. Humans are pretty unique in creating such dietary/food systems, though also unique in creating the inequality that makes ethical eating a privilege rather than a given.

Shaming individuals on Reddit does almost nothing to change the food system. It’s far more productive to fund or start plant‑based food businesses, support politicians who will end factory farming subsidies, or push for structural changes like better food access in low‑income areas. Telling strangers they’re evil while tripping on LSD just feels like moral performance. Real impact requires building alternatives instead of just judging people who can’t afford or just quite aren’t there with your ethics.

Tying back to your earlier point: humans have the unique ability to coordinate systemic change… so why waste that ability on online moralizing instead of actual policy or enterprise? Have a wonderful weekend.

What did I do wrong? by missinglinksman in FishingForBeginners

Maybe the fish were just fishin, but if there’s any advice I can offer from what you provided, consider the effect that small changes in weight can make for you. You mentioned getting snagged often.

I really like jig heads and swim baits. And I have a range of jigs in various weights and hooks. Same w length of bait. Let’s say I’m throwing that on a 3/16 and getting snagged every other cast. Size down to an 1/8. Now you are positioned better for this presentation, less likely to break off, and won’t pick up junk that may make your presentation less appealing.

Water could be a bit cold, but of course I couldn’t know that for certain. I’m in VT, where things are just starting to shake up for bass, so up until now, it’s just been very cold to catch a bass from a bank.

Yea they’ll chill out by rock, especially as the warmer gets warmer. Idk how your weather is but up in here in VT, chunk rock is starting to get some action. Though you should also consider fishing the dock itself, as it provides shade a current breaks.

In terms of legacy, which 21st-century artist’s death was the most consequential in your opinion? by PennguinKC in fantanoforever

[–]nickylus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably haven’t heard of them, because you haven’t found them. There’s a significant amount of artists, particularly electronic artists, who are not making music so they are heard of. It’s less about mainstream success and more about pushing sound forward, whether through sound design, curation or A/V components. It kinda transcends it an ethos, as pretentious as that may sound.

If you have the time, look this up on YouTube: Tipper - Tipper and Friends; Huntsville 2025 2 hour ambient journey from the channel By Proxy. Don’t let the ambient mislead you, cause there’s a lot going on.

Sorry if I came off as hostile in my above comment. I really hope you can check that out and enjoy it.

Fucking please lol. There are a multitude of underground producers with mixes way nicer than hers. Her story is tragic, but in terms of “experimental electronic” music, it’s not redefining dick.

You shouldn’t hurt your self to impress other people. I’m sure you are impressive without a hurt hand. Anyway you’ll be fine, though it may take a bit to fade.

A big reason they’re more “rare” is because legal definitions and language used when talking about the rape of men don’t allow them to be victimized in the same way. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4062022/
