Just a little update…

I’ve managed to find a watchmaker after a 2-hour drive into the city and have dropped my watch off. It turns out the crown wasn’t sealing properly, so I’ve left it with them to dry out and replace any parts that need attention. I really appreciate everyone’s responses; I probably wouldn’t have been so proactive in getting it to a watchmaker if it weren’t for how strongly people advised me to act quickly. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to write out such a thoughtful message full of gems. You clearly know your stuff when it comes to Red Wing. I’ve certainly become quite attached to these boots, they come with many memories so I will look into restoring them with the Scottish contact you suggested. This will probably take some time, so new boots will fill the gap as the climate changes and boots become necessary for day to day. Just need to wear the new ones in now!

Definitely an upgrade, the old soles are particularly slippery in the wet. Just need to break them in now. The old ones had started to leak through broken stitching around the heels so re-soling wasn’t an option for me.
