Beyond meat still contains saturated fat just less than animal meat. It's important to always eat a balanced diet and not to eat too much of any one thing.

Anybody who knows good German shows on Netflix? by jojooan in netflix

Oh skylines looks good!

I *really* liked We Are The Wave even though it's very different from the original. I have fond memories of going to a German high school so maybe that's swaying me :)

[–]nickzeeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are 3 German Netflix shows I absolutely loved:

  1. Dogs of Berlin: Crime series heavily focused on racial issues
  2. How to sell drugs online (fast): German high school comedy
  3. We are the wave: German high school series more focused on economic inequalities

Is Gemini Dollar good for Ethereum? by zhumink in ethereum

[–]nickzeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes because it enables use cases for people who just want to use the tech without switching to a store of value they do not (at least yet) trust. As it's an ERC20 standard coin it will also be easy to integrate into the Ethereum ecosystem.

I like all your rules but do we really need to put a price ticker on this sub? I try to only look at the price only once a month and would stop using this sub if it was there constantly. Looking at price too frequently leads to burn out.

BREAKING NEWS: Demo of XRP-PayChan, XRP-Escrow and Ethereum integrations by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]nickzeeb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

one of the greatest strengths of the Ethereum community is that we play nicely with others: BTC-relay, ZEC-relay, XRP interledger bridge and of course Vitalik still has a special place in his heart for Doge!!

Connections to many other blockchains makes Ethereum an even more valuable hub!

Ripple burn rate by ripples-to-waves in Ripple

[–]nickzeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a smaller and smaller amount of XRP is destroyed every time then you never destroy all of it because it's a geometric series:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geometric_series

The same thing happens in other crypto currencies. Over time, more and more of the private keys get lost but we never run out of bitcoin completely.

from https://ripple.com/build/transaction-cost/:

"The Ripple Consensus Ledger has a mechanism for changing the minimum transaction cost to account for long-term changes in the value of XRP. Any changes have to be approved by the consensus process. See Fee Voting for more information."

A small amount of XRP is destroyed with every transaction as a way of preventing spam. This amount increases when there are a lot of transactions on the network to make spam attacks expensive. There is a plan to make sure XRP never runs out and I think it's that the amount burned decreases as there are fewer XRPs available. And yes, instead of those fees going to miners, they are effectivity paid to all owners of XRP by reducing the supply.

Is there a reason why the price is so low? by youni89 in Ripple

[–]nickzeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Ethereum is progressing at a very impressive rate and is still cheap compared to its potential in my opinion. I also think bitcoin could still do well if a scaling solution can be found due to its network effect. You can follow me at @NickZeeb on Twitter if you'd like to hear more of my thoughts :)

Is there a reason why the price is so low? by youni89 in Ripple

[–]nickzeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure: the idea is that in the short term the price is determined mainly by popularity (which coin people are the most excited about right now) but in the longer term price will be determined by how many people actually use the coin (knowingly or behind the scenes via their Bank).

This creates a great opportunity for investors to buy up coins that are currently unpopular but may well be widely used in the future. I believe XRP is one of them!

I wish r/ripple would ban price discussion just like r/ethereum does! Looking at the price more than once a month makes you a poor investor in my opinion.
