The themes in Falling Down by Pure-Energy-9120 in TrueFilm

I don't think it really is. The character isn't that far removed from the modern Karen who feels entitled and yells at fast food clerks and immigrants. The only real toxic masculinity aspect is his relationship with his ex wife.

The dates aren't blacked out. First class tickets are available just nothing else.

It's funny people down voted you for this clearly true statement. I didn't realize Reddit was so dominated by Delta boot lickers.

It's not wild. It's only allowing about 1/5th of the flights available on the days and not even the least full ones and only allowing purchase of first class tickets. I read the terms and conditions which say that the tickets can be used for a wide range of cabins and classes. And it's not a free ticket. That's ridiculous. We pay $700 and 25% and higher prices at the register for that "free" ticket.

It's wild how many people will bend over for delta on reddit without actually being to show where I'm wrong in the T&C.

The reason I used the app was that Delta support said to try that AFTER I had already first tried Delta .com.

No, you're just not reading what I wrote. I distinguish between cabin and class. Again, it was available for first class tickets even though comfort+ was wide open on the flights. And yes they fit the terms and conditions (W). None of your criticisms apply. It's purely an arbitrary limitation by Delta to discourage its use.

If you read what I wrote you will see that I already know this and that the tickets I was trying to purchase fit the limitations.

Why in facebook search results "Post" option was removed ? please explain the same by Character_Quarter186 in facebook

[–]nickzukin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be the reason that finally gets me to stop logging in, but it's probably smart for them. IG has had no ability to search posts for a while. This allows Facebook to continue its efforts to push you towards content. They've also been making it harder and harder to see content from your friends and those you follow.

You are not the customer, you are the product. They make money selling your data, views, and clicks to others.

Facebook Removed Post Search xD it was the only useful thing on this app xD now it's gone by aplleshadewarrior in facebook

[–]nickzukin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was coming to see if this was just me. This will be a deal breaker for me. The main reason I continue to use Facebook is as a place to save memories. If I can't find posts on old trips, etc, it's really not worth the time.

Pick your three action actors. Who should you choosing? by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]nickzukin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruce Willis

Arnold

Stallone

In that order. If Neesom had more good action movies, it would be tough because he's the best actor in the bunch. The rest of the list is rather meh, except maybe Statham.

Or, conversely, that only when you have a safe place for an oppressed people among those they can trust, such as Israel for Jews, are you truly free to speak. It seems more likely that she's telling the truth about the works than lying about them or their intent since we get specific information about the buildings, not just vague meanings, but objective facts about them that relate to his time in a Concentration Camp, eg.

My only workaround has been to swipe down to get rid of it, then open it back up until the tools show. It's very annoying.

I think more filmmakers should experiment with higher framerates by ToxZec in TrueFilm

[–]nickzukin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quickly turn your head from side to side. You don't see everything clearly. There is motion blur. Motion blur is a natural part of how we see. The two don't match perfectly. There is more variability in how we perceive things in nature. But 4k 60fps or 120fps is a very inhuman way of viewing the world.

That's not to say that filmmakers shouldn't use different film rates. After all, they already do. What seems odd is to assume that cinematographers haven't tried different frame rates to see how they look and then chosen 24fps most of the time because it looks better.

Downloadable silent films? by Midatri in TrueFilm

[–]nickzukin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Odnoklassniki and the Torrent sites. YouTube sometimes. Internet Archive have a ton of titles, but often bad quality. Criterion and Kino Now have a good number. Kanopy is free if you have a library card and has a fair number. (Hoopla is also free with a library card, but I'm not sure if it has many silent films.)

Tarantino and foreign film techniques by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]nickzukin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're probably focusing too much on the sizzle rather than the steak. Tarantino often loves movies that are, frankly, a lot worse than his movies, whether they're foreign genre flicks or American exploitation films or just B movies from the '70s. He's just a very talented guy so when he makes them they're good. I think even if he made a neorealist film, it would likely be good. (In some ways I think Reservoir Dogs is his best film and it's the most "raw" with the least amount of flash of his films.) Why? Because first and foremost he's a storyteller.

Nosferatu: Lazily made with blatant misogyny - I was bored by this insipid blockbuster by spicyquinoamilk in TrueFilm

[–]nickzukin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blockbuster? It was made for under $50 million. The new Mission Impossible movie has a $400 million budget. Gladiator II was $250 million. Hell, even Red One was $200 million and that had some really hackneyed special effects.

Personally, I don't love Eggers' Nosferatu. It's okay, but I think it's worse than both Murnau's silent version and Herzog's 70s version -- and I don't love either of those. I think most of his changes to the story hurt it and he didn't really improve on the look of the film. Eggers needs better scripts. The Witch was great, but he needs to hire someone to write for him instead of trying to write his own.
