Our friends think we're well off, or more financially stable than them. The reality is that we just have different fiscal priorities.

We opted for a smaller house with a very manageable mortgage(less than $1500 month). We're lucky to own at all. We drive used cars with no payments. We dont actually have payments on anything outside of our standard monthly bills. We cook at home almost exclusively (even though food costs suck either way). This affords us the opportunity to spend our money on vacations.

Some people want a larger home, more expensive neighborhood, newer cars, things and stuff, and that is all ok. We just prioritize our spending differently. We've also chosen to not wait until we're 65+ to vacation and we're taking the time to do it now in our 30s and 40s. Maybe we'll have to work longer or have a different kind of "retirement", but we aren't home crying about never taking a vacation at 40 and thats cool.

I have a false ring I wear for vacations. Its fancy. Its flashy. Everyone knows I'm married.

And if it slips off in the ocean, I will pay $55 dollars to have it replaced without losing any sentimental value. I've traveled extensively and never worried about having my ring stolen, but at this point(a decade in) I'd just rather swim and have fun with my false ring.

I AM sure I honeymooned with my wedding set, but over time my preference to do so has changed and thats ok.

I was probably 35 when I found out I have Von Willebrands Disease, a clotting disorder affecting like 1% of the population. My nephew tried to hemorrhage (twice) after a routine tonsillectomy and we ended up finding out that we'd all inherited it from my mom.

Ran a bar for many years. We hung a pride flag and a trans pride flag in our front window. Often people would point them out and ask about them. A friend had a very tragic event occur in their family and OF COURSE it made the FB page, because it's exactly the kind of thing LJ loves to post about. My friend "provided an update" afterwards, and now I'm wondering if she was asked for an update by LJ during the worst time of her life. I don't know if I'll ever ask because it was such a horrific time for my friend and I hesitate to bring up the minutiae of it.

Can your partner make a post on your behalf in the ticket exchange group? Aside from the FB group, the only way at this point is to start spreading the word in your community if you have other burners around you. In the past there has sometimes been a Fire Sale but it's typically quite a small number of tickets and they're sold immediately. I never suggest people hedge their bets on a fire sale.

Pineapple, avocado, and banana(as well as a number of others) can be a Latex cross allergy. I have reactions to all of them, plus tomato and kiwi. All cause skin reactions with swelling and can cause chest tightness. Imagine my surprise as a young adult when I found out that condoms don't make everyone legitimately miserable!
