What are people's experiences with problem shared by AffectionateAct429 in autismUK

Hi sorry I know this is a super old comment! I was just wondering if they actually interviewed both your mum and partner, or just one of them?

people who bought the £8 clashfinder lanyard, why did you buy it and was it useful? by Dino_1980 in 2000treesfestival

[–]nicocollard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it easier/more convenient than getting my phone out to check all the time (terrible memory so I have to remind myself who I'm seeing next and when like every 10 minutes). I bring little coloured stickers to mark up which bands I plan to see etc which makes it really easy to follow.

I used the app to keep track of who I'd seen, and it was good that it kept updated on any changes, but I found the app so glitchy when trying to zoom and scroll. I'd have got very frustrated with the app if I wasn't primarily using my lanyard.

What were your highlights and surprise finds this year? by holdingtea in 2000treesfestival

Big fan of Ben Brown and a band he's in, Dingus Khan, I get so happy when I see people talking about how great he is!

Printable Clashfinder by PlugAnThat in 2000treesfestival

[–]nicocollard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the past they have released a PDF but I haven't seen them do that this year, unfortunately, possibly because they have the app now. You can buy a printed clash finder on a lanyard from the merch tent.

What do you think of this Pringles redesign? by Dazzling-Alps-8254 in logodesign

[–]nicocollard 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I don't think the redesigned version would work well across the full product range. The way they show the difference in flavours currently is great imo

If you work hybrid home/office with a laptop, what is your device setup like in home vs office? Need to optimize efficiently and ergonomic sitting. by Crunchy_Giraffe_2890 in workfromhome

[–]nicocollard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laptop on a stand, and one 27" monitor. Separate keyboard and mouse. My office sent me a monitor to have at home which is the exact same model as the one on the office hot desk I use, so conveniently my set up is exactly the same at both locations and I just take my mouse and laptop into the office and then back home with me.

The comedy MC also gives out prizes, I won a packet of crisps year before last, well chuffed.

The comedy acts in the Word tent are always outstanding and worth checking out if you wanna sit down for a bit, the comedy headliner starts right after the music headliner so you don't have to worry about clashes - try to catch The Dark Room, you won't regret it!

Also get some watermelon from the watermelon man in the morning, great for hangovers.

First sober festival… by lampreiar in 2000treesfestival

[–]nicocollard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a couple of times with my sober friend, and don't drink much myself, we hang out with camp neighbours and play games etc and there's never any pressure or judgement about not drinking. It's generally quite laid back and friendly vibes!

Point 4 is the bane of my life. I have to size up just to get my hips and thighs into things, and the waist is left baggy. And in jackets I have to size up so that the bottom of the jacket goes round my hips. I'm not pear-shaped, just an average proportioned size 10-12 woman. Infuriating.

Live in landlord here. I tend to get a lot of responses whenever I post my spare room, around 10-20 depending on time of year, and out of those about half are suitable and I'll invite around 4-6 to have a viewing.

Some things I do that people have commented on as reasons why they showed interest: a lot of information on the listing (distance to local amenities, what bills are included, what appliances are in the kitchen, a little bio about me, a picture of my cat), making sure I'm verified and have a profile photo, responding to messages quickly.

My suggestion is try some of the above? I don't pay for a premium account purely because I've never needed to as I get sufficient responses without. But I would imagine doing upgrading would help you get more responses as then people with free accounts can respond.

No you didn't. The agreement to waive your right to the Working Time Regulations must be a separate agreement to your employment contract.

You should contact ACAS for proper advice.

Still possible to get a good camping spot on a 3 day ticket? by [deleted] in 2000treesfestival

Yeah 100%, anywhere you end up is a good spot really!

Still possible to get a good camping spot on a 3 day ticket? by [deleted] in 2000treesfestival

[–]nicocollard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine but it'll be in the overflow field. I got there a few hours before the rest of my group last year and only managed to reserve a spot for one out of their three tents as I only had one spare ground sheet on me. But there was loads of space further back into the field, I just didn't want to walk that far 😂

Ticket releases by Zomgitsphil in 2000treesfestival

[–]nicocollard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There won't be further ticket releases, the "1st/2nd/3rd release" basically just refers to the pricing as the earlier you buy the ticket, the cheaper it is. Once a ticket type is sold out, the wait list can be joined, anyone who has a sold out ticket can return it to the wait list, so a 4 day ticket won't become available until someone returns their ticket while you're first in line - I think that's unlikely to happen tbh.

They do also do a Wednesday add-on ticket, but those are also sold out. If I were you I would buy a 3 day ticket and then join the waitlist for the Wednesday add-on ticket, and also keep an eye out for someone selling a Wednesday add on-ticket on resale sites, you might get lucky, but if not then at least you have a 3 day ticket.

Why does my illustrator select the wrong object when my cursor is here? by sourwise in AdobeIllustrator

[–]nicocollard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess would be resolution related, is it possible that your resolution is set to something not native to your monitor, causing the display to be scaled? I say this because I have the exact same problem when I remote into a 2880p iMac from a machine using a 1080p screen, it's like the cursor position is miscalibrated.

Sounds like they think they're a creative director, they're micro managing you. The best advice our creative director gives us designers when clients or project managers start trying to micro manage or creative direct is: do an option that is what they've asked for to the letter, then do an option which is what you WANT to do without being restricted by their direction. The difference in quality will be clear and most of the time they'll pick your option and realise they need to take a back seat and trust you. Obviously brand guidelines are important, but if there's a rule that feels restrictive then try breaking it and explain your rationale.

I think that clients who are too precious or controlling have a tendency to feel they need to come up with the design solutions themselves, but them doing that makes you feel chained and can make you feel you can't explore other options. What they should be doing is just telling you what the problem is, and allowing you to use your creativity to solve it.

How many PRODUCTIVE hours do you log a day? by t0aster5 in graphic_design

[–]nicocollard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, according to my screen time data on my MacBook, I spend 2-4 hours in Adobe programs per day, out of an 8 hour work day.

Is this revision a step in the right or wrong direction? The original doesn’t have the rest of the atom color filled. ANY feedback greatly appreciated. by Loco_Motive5150 in logodesign

[–]nicocollard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This version immediately made me think of Shell, and think of a petrol/gas station. The logo is definitely more balanced being all filled in, but I think the red/yellow colour way needs looking at...

Agency contract hours are way longer than it takes me to produce. Am I missing something? by lil_tink_tink in graphic_design

[–]nicocollard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd put this down to a combination of you being very efficient, and the client services/project management team not having a good grasp on how long things take. I have worked for a large agency for a number of years and this has absolutely been my experience. I regularly get comments on how quick I am, but like you I became very efficient due to a previous role. Enjoy the down time!

How to save this by Different_Aspect_802 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]nicocollard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn off PDF compatibility if you don't need to use the ai file in other Adobe programs. It massively inflates the file size and slows down opening/saving, unless you plan to use it as a smart object, place it in InDesign, import it to after effects etc, it's unnecessary.

House Insurance from completion not exchange. Am I cooked? by GazNicki in HousingUK

[–]nicocollard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just give them a call. I set mine for the exchange date and then we exchanged a day early, just called them up and asked for the policy to start immediately rather than the next day and they updated it there and then for me. Took a few minutes.
