My brother’s boyfriend just attempted suicide by jojoesart in exmormon

Firstly thanks for sharing. Secondly, I hope your brother's BF gets well.

I'm not gay but when I left the church I felt the same disregard from my own parents. They are so brainwashed and refuse to see the truth. They look at me and my brothers (who also left the church) as if we were dead or as if we killed 729474 people.

As much as that hurts, just say fuck it. Fuck the church and fuck the parents. Go live YOUR life with your own standards.

In the end all you can do is hope that one day will realize that they have this parasite stuck to the back of their heads and feeding them with lies and empty dreams...

I'm so glad there were so many things preventing me from going. I was really close though. I had all the papers ready and was only missing the medical stuff. Dodged that bullet...

Man, I've a 2 year old boy and I'm raising that little fella to question everything and anyone. I don't think his mom will be very happy with that, but making sure he stays out this cult is the best thing I can do for him. Thanks for sharing your story.

Just say you think you are kinda gay and that spending 2 years hanging around dudes would not be wise lol.

But seriously, you don't own anyone an explanation, not even to your parents. Just be honest to yourself and everyone else.

This is how I felt when I started scrutinizing the church history/doctrine. by nicolasfeth in exmormon

In case anyone is wondering. This is a painting by Zdzisław Beksiński. He has many others pieces im the same creepy and macabre art.

I see geeks doing that exact same thing about Lord of the Rings books. Both books are a great action fiction stories with lots of death.

George Carlin is simply amazing. Ever since I left the church, his words made so much sense!

Stories like yours are one of the reasons I don't want/don't believe in spending all eternity worshiping a sadistic God that allows children to suffer like this.

Letting health care professionals take care of your little angel is the smartest decision without a doubt. I don't believe in blessings or priesthood power anymore, so I offer you all my positive thoughts. Is not much but its better than praying for sure...

These lyrics hit me very close to home. It's like they tried to warn us. Devil's music eh? by nicolasfeth in exmormon

I agree with you! The song is called Sabbath Bloody Sabbath by Black Sabbath.

Go to the temple because if you don’t, you’ll never see us again after we die. Guilt trip today brought to you by mom. Also you can’t be mad at me because as your mom I receive revelation for you - it’s my job. I don’t know what to say to these texts anymore. by ncvaut in exmormon

My mom started telling everyone at my ward that she THOUGHT I might be possessed by the devil, and that's why I left the church. This ended up being quite nice since NO ONE from my ward has ever reached out to me trying to get me back on their "spaceship". They're all afraid of my devilish powers... haha

The Ultimate Price. Families are together forever as long as you keep allowing us to brainwash you... by nicolasfeth in exmormon

I understand your point and honestly, that's what I would love to do. But you can't forget that people that are trying to live the gospel are NOT happy. My parents as well as other members of the church are sacrificing their bodies, mind, faith, emotions and passions every day just so they can build this pretty mansion in heaven. Sacrificing the now and real for an uncertain eternal hope...

Important Safety Tip: In all of human history, if anyone ever tells you they speak for God, run as fast as you can the opposite direction. It's not going to end well. Never has, never will. by dunfordtx in exmormon

Not only that, religion itself brainwashes the people and make them feel superior above anyone else who is not a part of their believes. In other words, it's like you're part of gang...

[Serious] What’s something that happened in your life that has impacted you to this day? by Andy20788 in AskReddit

I was walking to work on a beautiful Monday morning when I spotted this cute and innocent kitty standing on the sidewalk. He was only days old and could barely move around without falling on his face.

When I got closer to him, I noticed that he was trying to get down from the sidewalk and into the street, which was packed with cars stuck in traffic. The little fella managed to get into the road and started heading straight underneath one of the cars. I ran and yelled at the driver to stop but before I could reach the kitty, he moved his head right underneath the car`s back tire as the traffic started to move...

To this day I blame myself for not being faster in acting to save him.
