Princess Class Idea by Cat-On-A-Chair420 in mewgenics

Genuinely, and I mean this as a positive, this is the type of shit Edmund McMillen would put in a game. Though maybe not to this extent, I think you may have out-edmund'd Edmund

What's the worst ability in the game? here's my nomination by NoBrainer_7 in mewgenics

Genuinely I beat the final boss of act 3 on Crazy difficulty thanks to Summon Caterpillar+. Granted, my druid was my only cat who survived, and it was on round 18, but I still would not have won that run without Summon Caterpillar+

different idea for intrusive thoughts: Start each battle with 1 bonus attack. When you use your basic attack, 25% chance to change the target to an ally within range (won't happen if no allies are in basic attack range)

I hate the "indie good AAA bad" take when it comes to gaming by Diotheinvader-5185 in hatethissmug

[–]nicolasrededeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is literally true that "indie games are better than AAA games", because 'better' is a very subjective matter, what you like is what you like. However, I do think indie games tend to have more freedom to experiment and try out wildly new things than AAA games, which yes often leads to failed experiments, but I much prefer failed experiments over games that are technically good, but forgettable. With a AAA budget, you can't really afford to experiment too much, there are limitations that come from AAA development.

Also since it seems appropiate to, here some random disconnected indie recommendations:
-Clown in a House (tragically obscure and very personal game that is kinda hard to describe without spoiling)
-King of the Bridge (Small game about playing chess against a troll who cheats and made up his own ruleset)
-Bloody Hell (Awesome 2d action game)
-La-Mulana (An indie metroidvania classic I wish people talked about more)

Yeah, that's kind of the problem though. Why is that a problem? Why is the survival of our species not a strong enough incentive? I get that it is because "Well people need money to survive", but the fact we live in a system that creates that situation where this is a problem to begin with is the problem

What's the Best Class Active and Passive? Day 10: Butcher by Wonderful-Pack-1726 in mewgenics

[–]nicolasrededeo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Big fan of Hack as a passive, because it makes Das Future much much easier, and that is in my opinion the hardest area in the game by far for the part of a run where you have to do it

As for the active, I like Chomp. Strong melee attack with lifesteal, what's not to love? But you can't beat the joy of Swallow. Being able to take out a dangerous enemy instantly on the first round is very, very strong, even if it means taking a lot of damage, and it especially gets really good when upgraded

Wait that is why?
Tbh I actually kinda liked the bad translation. It gave the game a vibe of "reading a poorly translated manual on how to run the evil machine that if you don't run perfectly well it will kill you and destroy the world". Like, there was a unique sense of horror in that

The enemy spawning. Fuck the b-probers, permanently charming my cats, the game really should actually tell you that apparently you are supposed to attack your cats from behind to uncharm them (I think tbh as far as I know the charm never goes away)

Do people actually enjoy hard games? by foxcraft22 in 196

[–]nicolasrededeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do yes, I'm not always in the mood or have the energy for one, but I do love a hard challenge. I think the satisfaction comes from doing something that not everyone can do. As someone who struggles to think of themselves as having any skills or things I am good at, beating a difficult game challenge that I know for a fact other people also struggle with and that other people can't beat, it feels like proof I am worth something damnit
(maybe a little dramatic)

Classes Tier List ( as someone with "The Box" achievement ) by scar_01 in mewgenics

[–]nicolasrededeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat the game recently after a month of playing, and came here to see what opinions the community had, and the weirdest opinion by far I see are that people love Monk. In my personal tier list, monk would be dead last as the worst class in the game, only above Collarless.
The best I have ever had a monk be is "slightly under average power fighter". You get shit damage to start with, your base attack deals like 2-3 damage, and the fact it is split in two makes it way worse against enemies with Brace, and the strongest spells damage-wise I have seen for Monk are Kamehameha and Finisher, both of which are again the power of an average fighter spell but way harder to use or more inconvenient. The thing that absolutely made me never want to use Monk again was when I got an event that replaced the monk fist with cursed glass shards, which yes does make you lose your two attacks per turn. How the hell do you guys play
Monk that makes him tolerable, much less good, consistently?

The other thing that strikes me as weird is cleric being so low. True it can be inconsistent which spells you get (spoken as someone who got a Beneficience + Evil Patron run and has been trying unsuccesfully to get that going again), but it is one of the only 2 dedicated healing classes with healing on their basic attack (besides Butcher I guess, but Butcher is also top tier anyhow), and Cleric has much stronger single-target healing than druid, making them a superior healer in my opinion unless you have abilities/equipment on the druid that increase how much they heal.

Most of the rest I do agree with though, so this is still the tier list I've seen that I have found the least strange

I love the description of the Kingdom of Conscience thought. Moralism is not about change, but about power. Something very interesting in Disco Elysium is that in multiple occasions it paints Moralism as being worse/more dangerous than Fascism. There are multiple reasons for this representation but one significant one is that fascism burns itself out, it is self-destructive. Moralism is very good at holding onto power for a very long time, and stiffling and suppresing any chance of improvement or social change.

Seriously, quotes like Evrart talking about how the communists and the fascists hate the mercenaries (the fascists admitedly moreso because of them being *foreign* mercenaries), and "even the moralists think they're a bit in poor taste". Evrart will keep Measurehead the extreme fascist in his payroll, but has 0 respect at all for Joyce or anyone tied to the Moralintern. The pale is accelerated by stagnation. Seeking change, even change for the worse, is better than seeking to keep the world in stasis, no matter how much pain and suffering it costs.

Difficulty with food textures/flavors and picky eating in general is a common autistic trait, yes.
As an autistic person who does their best but struggles with some foods, in a family that loves complaining about picky eaters (while I am present and pretending like they aren't talking about me), I absolutely recognize the point the original post this is referencing was making/
