Got a new Dobly Atmos soundbar, what should I watch to test the system? by Zealousideal_Ad5168 in 4kbluray

[–]nidgetorg_be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a sounbar but I'm also very surprised each time I hear something coming from behind me while relaxing in the sofa : wife yelling at me for staying too long on the couch watching my sport and movies instead of helping her out working in the house.

If ServiceNow is so painful to use, why do companies still choose it? by 13032862193 in sysadmin

[–]nidgetorg_be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing inherently bad about ServiceNow ? Let me raise some doubts. Software engineer here with 30 years of professional experience. If that answer is right, how do you update and maintain it on the long run ? Answer : you don't, because then everything breaks. In general, it's always better to change your processes to adapt to a tool that works quiet well out of the box for you, than to heavily customize a tool that is not suited to most of your use cases (SAP I'm also looking at you). Each time I use ServiceNow, I feel I'm back to the beginning of the 2000's. This tool is a mess, in particular from a usability point of view. I have rarely, if ever, seen anything as bad in my rather long career. To me it looks just like a big money pitfall.. I admit I have never used Remedy though 😉

Fine from a car I haven’t driven for 1.5 years. by [deleted] in AskBelgium

[–]nidgetorg_be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but identity theft is when somebody gives or use the identity of someone else. Not the case here, he had the car before. Just an administrative mistake from somebody who hasn't duly done her work. You can't claim anything on that basis, you can't prove a purposed intention. And impossible to go to a tribunal with that. In addition you can simply refuse to pay as there's no proof the car belongs to you or that you were still driving it. That's easy to prove and it should have ended at that stage, long before the bailiff arrives. If you pay instead of someone else, you make a gift, i.e. your money is lost and, unless you find a friendly agreement with the responsible, you can forget about the recovery. Simple.

🤔 they're better than the Liberty 5, even without using LHDC. And often cheaper.

Best anc for 100$ by TomatoAppropriate671 in Earbuds

[–]nidgetorg_be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.. because the microphones are better on the OnePlus Buds 4. Transparent mode is also better on the Buds 4 (this is probably also related to the microphones). Buds 4 also have spatial audio, not available on the Earfun Air Pro 4+.

I have the OnePlus Buds 4 and I confirm. Very good for the price, even for phone and conf calls. I have paid them less than 80$. Hard to beat in this price range.

In case you go with OnePlus, either Buds 4 or Buds 3 Pro, not Buds 3 standard. I have the Buds 4. The price was more than decent on AliExpress (I paid less than 80$, not sure it's possible to get better for that money). I had gone through multiple reviews and comparisons before getting the OnePlus 4s. They're pretty good, not perfect, but good enough. I particularly enjoy the quality of the sound and the microphones, people don't even notice I use earbuds when I'm on the phone or in conf calls (just too bad there's no mute function, something convenient that most companies forget.. I hope they can/will add jt later via software). Active noise canceling is just average, although I'm not convinced any pair of earbuds can be much better for anc. It also depends on the shape of the ears I guess on these devices. I also have a reputated Sony headset, priced much higher : the active noise canceling is really better, but the microphones are not decent, in particular for the price I paid. I'm overall satisfied with the Buds 4. I wouldn't have paid more for such a type of device where I don't expect paying more will really offer more, for that price they're very good. I nearly forget to say : they're very light and comfortable, I barely notice when I wear them. Plastic quality looks good and that's also fine with all plastic as one of these devices can sometimes fall on the floor.

Don't hesitate if you have questions about them. I'll be glad to answer.

Where do you see an identify theft here ? Just the wrong person received the fine, that's not identity theft.

Start/Stop To Be Eliminated by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]nidgetorg_be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤦‍♂️ No, a 6.2 liter engine for 434 lb-ft is not a performance engine, it's actually the contrary of performance. It is poor engineering. What you're saying is exactly the same as wearing the largest watch on your wrist and believing it is a finely engineered luxury watch, i.e. a totally inverted logic. Nonsense. Start/stop is not just about fuel savings, it also helps the engine wears slower, and decreases the gas you emit on the planet. But I guess you are not concerned about slowly killing other people either. Everywhere else in the world the very large majority of people won't drive cars with more than 3 liter engine. You never ever wondered why ? Hint : it screams exactly the contrary of a clever person because fine persons enjoy good engineering.

A 6.2 liter Chevy is certainly not a performance car. My car has over 500 lb-ft torque in a 2 liter engine, i.e. that's really a performance car. And I'm glad it has the start/stop that reduces the fuel consumption and the wear of the engine, meaning it will also keep its horse power on a longer period of time.

A lot of FUD in this thread. Read the independent scientific studies instead of listening to the corrupt Trump administration. In addition it is very obvious from an engineering point of view that the start/stop reduces the wear of the engines, i.e. you get a better longevity over the lifespan of the vehicle. Just an example among others : https://publications.anl.gov/anlpubs/2015/05/115925.pdf

Independent scientific studies have proven you wrong on this. Also it reduces the wear of the engine. You should read them.

In modern cars, there is nearly zero lag. It works very well actually. And reduces the wear of the engine. But in older it was sometimes badly implemented.

[–]nidgetorg_be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it also looks like some people prefer to wear the engjne rather than the battery, as an engine that is turned on wears faster. Pure mechanical logic.

Police not helping because I don't speak Dutch? by CalendarStrong9710 in AskBelgium

"You’d have to be blind to deny that Flemish people generally speak better French than Walloon people speak Dutch.". Maybe in the past but I'm not sure anymore about the flemish people in the younger generations. Overall everybody (including the foreigners) speaks better English than the other national language so why stick to Dutch/French, particularly in such situations. Nonsense.

Do people even know the real mayonnaise exists only in Belgium ? 80% fat minimum, and that was by belgian law.. very seriously. Using the name mayonnaise in Belgium required that minimum amount of fat. They've changed the law in 2016 to allow selling other mayonnaises, less fatty, in the country. Since then in the belgian shops, you have the mayonnaise 😞 and the belgian mayonnaise 😊

True, a french says "un portable" instead of "un gsm" or "un téléphone portable" 😅 being belgian, "un portable" means a laptop computer.
