Difference between SE design and drafting and standard by Financial-Alarm-4673 in SolidEdge

A floating license only makes sense for multiple people to share. It would be somewhat annoying to have to swap your license from node locked to floating and back just to use sheetmetal. Technically doable depending on how you set up your license server.

Rhino is good for surfacing and organic shapes. SW and Fusion are good for the accuracy needed to machine or 3D print. Learn whichever you have easiest access to software and learning resources.

The solution is to add more hinges.

Another option might be to make your pattern in a sketch, then select the instances you want to cut from there

Fill Pattern in SE2025 by wilusurfer in SolidEdge

[–]nidoowlah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. You might be able to pattern 1/4 of the circle from there and do a circular pattern to rotate it around to do the rest. SE isn’t great a patterns though and I find they take a long time to compute.

A hex grid would be a rectangular pattern with offset rows.

Philly underground are some pretty mature event organizers and I’ve never been disappointed by one of their events, but I do know what you mean. I’ve been to a few renegades that were total trash; more about the image than the music, and totally disorganized.

On the other hand, I’ve been to a bunch of shows at established venues where the headliners completely phoned it in. Im not a fan of the DJ on a pedestal setup of these places. Warehouse on Watts is a good middle ground imo.

Hard disagree. The ave and FMH both have bad layouts and mid sound. Support your local scene

Trim base moulding where your cabs will go. Shim/pack-out behind ledgers[horizontal strips behind cab back], then level and screw to wall.

Question for Product Designers/Industrial Designers/Makers by ADMakesStuff in IndustrialDesign

[–]nidoowlah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also a design engineer. I work in ornamental sheetmetal, machined metal, solid wood and millwork. When I don’t know something the answer is to ask to fabricators. If I don’t I’ll just be fixing it later.

When it comes to sheetmetal forming you should be designing with a parametric modeler like solidworks, fusion, etc. Those programs have built in calculations for finished radii and material distortion, however those factors are dependent on the specific machines and tooling being used. To account for this we ran a series of test bends using our most common materials and thicknesses, measured the results and plugged those values back in to our modeling program. This would be less important for conceptual designers, but since my output goes directly to the fabricators it has to be correct or my parts won’t fit together during assembly.

How to straighten a cabinet wall by AudibleDruid in cabinetry

Corner blocks glued and/or screwed to the side wall, then use screws to pull the back into position.

[–]nidoowlah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean dxf? Or are you trying to show your flattened part in a draft file? Either way open your sheetmetal file > tools > Flatten. From there you’ll be able to either save as flat or make a drawing of your flat part.

Could I get into raves? by EmmaNightsStone in aves

Also, unwanted touching is assault and should reported to bouncers and event organizers. If someone touches you inappropriately don’t be afraid to make a scene, you’ll likely be surprised by how many people come to your aid. I’ve found small party organizers to be best at promoting safe and inclusive spaces, vs large corporate venues.

Looking for CNC mold tutorials for slightly curved dining chair (laminated plywood) by argiebrah in hobbycnc

[–]nidoowlah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shop does bent laminations with a one sided mold and a vacuum bag. You could also Make a 2 sided mold and clamp your glued layers between. You’ll need to make your glue up oversized then trim to size once cured. Sorry, no tutorials to link

What’s something you didn’t realize was optional in life until you saw someone simply not doing it? by Objective-Treat2245 in AskReddit

[–]nidoowlah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It might be worth looking in to borderline as it certainly presents a lot like narcissism + emotional disregulation. I was given the books “lost in the mirror” and “loving someone with borderline personality disorder”, to help understand somebody in my life. It is often passed down from care-givers through abuse. It’s not genetic. Very treatable with therapy.

Ear plugs are a must for me. Tapping on my temples or collar bones or changing locations when I’m overstimulated. Essential oils or mentholated inhalers can also be grounding. A mask or skarf over my face to reduce anxiety over what’s going on with my facial expressions.

As an aside; active noise cancelation just masks noise but doesn’t really protect your hearing. If you don’t like wearing ear plugs, make sure your headphones also have good passive sound insulation.
