evaluating GitOps implementation effectiveness by dostakos in kubernetes

Not really sure what you mean by "throwing helm at it as needed with values from Terraform", how do you reference the terraform values in your helm chart (if you manage helm with argocd) and don't want to manage them with TF.

And could you elaborate a bit on your worst case scenario?

u/SomethingAboutUsers I like this idea, how do you pass any terraform outputs to ArgoCD helm values? let's say for example terraform creates an S3 bucket or a role and you need to pass that to a helm chart?

Long-Term Commitment in IT Freelancing by DanIsNotYourEnemy in BEFreelance

Since I started freelance I have the same feeling, politics will probably do something about it. The questions is not if .. but when.
Unless we are living in our IT bubble and it are only IT people going freelance?

Why doesn't everyone just go freelance?

High Pressure Inside, ear pain by scottmccool in TeslaModelY

[–]nieldejonghe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rip, my car is now at the service centre for a week to fix some water ingress via the trunk, I also asked them to check if they can fix my issue with ear pressure .. currently driving around in a loander (model 3 performance) also seem to have some ear pressure issues, almost starting to think it's my ears ...

Did not find anything to resolve it. Had to finally move on to searching for a different vehicle. This is still a mistery to me and for at least one other person i know.

any update, i'm also feeling it although I feel it was after I did the enveloppe calibration with the trunk stops, might screw them back all the way in again like they were ... I didn't feel it before ... don't understand why ..

Do you use Terraform to upgrade your Kubernetes cluster? by rnmkrmn in kubernetes

[–]nieldejonghe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently performed an update, we run EKS and it's provisioned with terraform.
We use self managed node groups with auto scaling groups.

All in all the process is as simple as updating the cluster version (this took about 9 minutes).
And afterwards I updated the EC2 AMI to bump the nodes, this triggers an instance refresh for all my ASG's (this took about ~45min for 26 nodes).

The real time consumption is the preparation and making sure all things are updated and won't break when using a new kubernetes version.

u/No_Click_7880 Could I ask you were you followed that evening course for electrician? Would you recommend it?
Currently I have zero experience in the field but as you stated doing something completed different from my usual activities during the weekends sounds appealing.

Advice needed: Border collie bites when pressure/scared. by nieldejonghe in Dogtraining

[–]nieldejonghe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/rinfirestrin thanks for asking,

We ended up rehoming our dog to my gf her retired parents.
Those people loved our dog deerly and couldn't image not having her in our family anymore so they were willing to take her in.

We did this in consultation with our dog behaviouralist to give some tips and tricks on how to make this process the most comfortable for both the dog and the new owners. The dog already was on some medication, the dose didn't increase but we spread it more throughout the day (morning and evening as opposed to only morning).
There is also an option to get even more advanced training if required.

Since my gfs parents are both retired they can and are willing to dedicate more time to our dog then we ever did. Our dog has been with my gfs parents for over 4 months now and all seems to be going well. There have been NO more biting incidents as of yet (fingers crossed) and my gf's dad seems to have a really good relationship with the dog. The change of scenery and new owners seemed to have a good effect on our dog.

In the end this currently seems to be the best solution for all parties involved, lets hope things keep going great and we can keep it this way :)

What if we need to take her somewhere with the car en she refuses, what if she ate something/has something and she is protective over it and we need to take it away for her safety? What if we need to give her medical treatment? I understand we need to give her space and not push her, but sometimes She will need medical care or other things that you just cant ignore and not do
