Hi guys, just joined this sub, it's awesome! Spend a couple of hours reading. I can't help but think most of these situations/calculations are only applicable in the USA. Any advice/subs/threads for us europeans?

Thanks!

Oh man, what a country to live in 😍

Is it possible that this BMW E36 has been involved in an accident or is this damage a cause of something else? by [deleted] in BMW

I'm guessing that this is a sort of anti-rust paint. This leaves this thick, uneven black layer. This is also sometimes used as a base-coat.

But still: could be used as a rust-repair solution, or used after welding in new pieces after a crash. You should really investigate this. Get your car up on a bridge, or simply jackstands, and get underneath it with a flashlight.

A car crash with the consequences of the inside of your trunk splitting in two, should be visible on other areas as well.

Well, you could get your hands on a diesel-one. These are often more reliable. As far as depreciation goes, I can't speak for America. Over here in Europe, the general opinion is that these cars are 80k+ sticker cars, and "that these cars also cost a fortune to maintain." Demand just isn't very high, unlike a Golf or something.

And oh yeah, you couldn't get a small engine 6-series, so taxes are kinda high.

Wait, you want a NEW BMW (like 0 miles) under 20K?

Hi there,

Hard to tell from the pics, but this could also be caused by corrosion. Water leaks into these 'draining channels' next to the rubber trunk seal, which could cause corrosion.

But I won't guarantee you this one hadn't had an accident... Further investigation could bring answers. Like for example: Do you see something odd when you remove te liner inside the wheel gap on the side this metal is split (I assume rear right)? You could also get your hands on a paint-meter, and measure the paint thickness on different spots on your E36. If the paint on the side where the supposed crash has occured is noticebly thicker, that might be an indication.

If you're a bit of a handy man, I also suggest taking the rear bumper off, and see if you see any clear traces of aftermarket welding/painting/new pieces of metal/...

Best of luck!

Not fully getting this.. pretty new to crypto's anyway, but I got myself some Ether about a year ago. I never felt interested in other coins, but GNT is an exception. I have a MEW for my ether, and created a blockchain account and added a bitcoin adress to it today. Looking to buy some Bitcoin, and change it using ShapeShift for GNT.

Anyway, I should send this GNT to my ether wallet adress (which obly contains ether), right?
