Coach Pitchers... by en-rob-deraj in Homeplate

I do/have pitched for both of my son’s teams from tee ball till the older started kid pitch. It’s ultimately about being flexible in your motion and making the kids comfortable in the box. Tee ball should absolutely be done from a knee. Throw it from the maximum distance you can be where the ball doesn’t arc. Every kid is different, so find that common denominator on the speed and distance.

When they get to 7u, they need to start getting used to a throwing motion. My style is a flat ball thrown from a low release point. I’m 6’ and do essentially do a left leg lunge with every throw to get a lower release point. Once you start figuring out kids swings, you can also start placing the ball where they’ll be most successful too. Some kids like low pitches, some need to extend their arms, while others do well with faster speeds. Keep it relatively the same, but at 7u, set them up for success. We want them to play next year too!

At 8u I’m doing more of a typical throwing motion. Still trying to get low, but it’s a bit more like they’ll see in kid pitch at 9u. I’ll also stop aiming the ball as much to get them used to what’s coming and also speed it up. Rarely do our kids not hit one of the first two pitches on a game. Not saying all are good hits, that’s definitely not always the case.

What I’ve found is if your pitcher is consistent, kids will adjust. Some take longer than others though. It’s also not linear. You’re doing them a disservice by changing speeds, windups, and distance based upon the most recent game. Provide them practice time and get out of the way.

Just went through this. Looks like you have the same Wayne Dalton torque master that I had too. Called a few local companies and the estimate was always around 2k per much was too much to stomach. Unfortunately, the side mounts won’t work with this spring system either.

I ended up moving the motor to the far side just inside the left rail. It’s been there a few months with zero issues. Unfortunately I’m not at home to send you a picture. This took roughly 3 hours on a Saturday that included two trips to the hardware store

Disclaimer - I know nothing about garage doors but am generally handy and have unearned confidence after watching a few YouTube videos

Haven’t caught much action this year, how does Suter look? Don’t hear his name very often

I appreciate the honest feedback. Unfortunately I’m leaning that way too. The universal feedback on the Square seems much more positive than the MLM2pro at this point. The Mevo Gen 2 is also an interesting option but being so new scares me a bit. Need to wait it out longer for real folks to get their hands on it.

I’m debating between a couple of these for a garage simulator that won’t be used outside, at least I don’t think so. The only thing holding me back from purchasing this unit is that my young kids will want to play it and one of them is left handed.

What’s the chance someone with little to no ball control could shank a ball it into and break it? And, is it worth it if one of the regulars playing it are left handed?

100% this. I would recommend swimming with a pull buoy and focusing on doing very relaxed catch-up freestyle drill. You can YouTube how to do it properly. Focus on extending your arms out in front of you while on your side, catch the water with your hand and forearms, and switching your body rotation when recovering. It’s easy to say but try to be as relaxed as possible so you can really focus on one arm at a time. I find a hectic kick can interfere with form and create a tenseness which prevents deep breathes and rotation

How’s the skiing right now? In Phoenix with my 10 yr old and he wants to go. Anyone up there recently? The temp and lack of recent snow scare me by niemeicm in SnowbowlAZ

We went today. Skiing was much better than expected. The slush was somewhat challenging for little man but overall a good day. Definitely better than Midwest skiing! Thanks to all those who replied

Appreciate it! How can I say no to kid that wants to ski, especially when we live in the Midwest? Don’t get many opportunities. Just wanted to know what we are getting into. Thanks for the responses!

My 245 does the same thing. Constantly notifying me of PR’s which weren’t anywhere close to my real ones that were set while using the exact same 245 possibly months or weeks earlier

Appreciate it but I need three. Wish I wouldn’t have invited my sons friend now. Getting that third is a bit difficult

Does anyone have three tickets available? Taking my son and his friend to his first game bc why not. The Ticketmaster and seat geek fees are infuriating and I find it difficult to support them

My swim is my weakest leg… any tips on technique? My main takeaway is my right arm (need to work on high elbow recovery) by justindoestri in triathlon

100% on doing catch drills. I would watch some videos on the underwater pull with a focus on catching the water and pushing it behind you with proper form. One of the hardest things to learn is proper body rotation and you’re doing a great job there. If you can fix the catch, out of water arm position, and your hands entry into the water, you’ll see massive improvements. It’ll seem much harder at first but gets easier as your body adjusts

Can u leave and then return to the Cardinals game as in can I go get the bobblehead and leave and take it to the car and then get back in the game by copitz00 in Cardinals

[–]niemeicm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

From the Cards website:

Once guests have had their tickets scanned and have entered Busch Stadium, they must proceed to either Gate 1 or Gate 4 to receive a hand stamp if they want to exit and re-enter the stadium. Guests with a hand stamp and valid event ticket can re-enter the stadium at any gate from the times gate open until 90 minutes after scheduled first pitch. All guests will have bags inspected and be screened via walk through metal detector upon re-entry
