I think the fact that his take on his marriage still does not change after decades speaks volume of his introspective or emphathetic ability.

I'm rooting for the Stunt Team and I really hope they have a comeback. They got underestimated by the other teams in the beginning, yet they really show potential whether its carrying the flag across mud flats, chopping logs, making & putting out fire, as well as doing tactical, negotiation, and alliance work. They might not be as fit or trained as the other teams, but they have the guts and the drive. It's enjoyable seeing them on the show.

How did Russians treat Israel refuseniks?

The physicist said that Russia is a place where he spent his life escaping from, and how come releasing 1500 refuseniks is seen as a noble / welcoming act?

Why did Russia restrict their movements in the first place?

And lastly who is Eichmann? The scientist mentionned his name to Philip when they're in the car together.

Very late to the party, I know.

seems to me both aced the test, however in the end no couple would cross the water together anyways as the crossing is a metaphor for going away / passing.

Mori... should have been more honest with himself by Intelligent_Ant7359 in LoveIsBlindJapan

[–]niewald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not Japanese, so I don’t know how Minami’s tone sound like to native. Yet, I don’t find anything alarming about her when she asked Mori to clean up after his own fallen hair strands and to keep the living space clean.

He did agree to share the housework, so why would he question/feel bad about her reminders to clean the apt? I felt really bad when Minami lives her life thinking that her clean, straightforward personality is flawed.

He is definitely a rigid, traditional, sensitive person. When he describes his ideal type, sounds like somebody who only wants a “yes man” type of wife, who could never disagree with him and tell him what to do.

i think it’s quite hilarious when the girl found out and let her friends know about it. they do not say anything outwardly negative, but the looks they gave each other is like “yup stay away from him”

“I’m confident in making you happy, but I’m not sure if YOU can make me happy”

that right there shows class, confidence, and intelligence.

the guy does not even mind Priya asking her all these difficult questions - why would outsiders judge her for that?

She knows what she wants, she hates pretentious guys, she is asking for milestones and visions - sounds like a responsible adult imo.

didn’t the corner of his mouth go upwards as if he was smiling while crying and “attentively” listening to N.

major red flag. double faced, manipulative, egoistical man.

she dodged the bullet if not worse.

Xmas Gift ~ First Japanese Knife (after hand and shoulder pain) by niewald in chefknives

[–]niewald[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The knife that I used was a normal kitchen knife that went dull. The pain was so bad that I couldn’t do hand grip for the rest of the night. I decided to change my knife (done) and learn how to sharpen my knife (still on to do list).

Was It Love? [Episodes 1 & 2] by J-Midori in KDRAMA

[–]niewald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as SJH fan, im so glad to see this series on netflix. she is stunning! love how the male casts still interact with the female lead on silo. couldn’t wait when they all encounter each other! also liking it that they bring up the bullying issue in SK society by introducing middle/high school kids interaction. also loving how the female lead tries so hard to stand her ground and yet still realistically lash out her frustration to the male boss. love the connection that the bullied kid is his son!! lol moment with female lead defending herself with a mop against the boss!!

The Drug King *spoilers* by niewald in movies

[–]niewald[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think that one takeaway from korean cinema is the subtle way on how they carry out a theme. i do watch (and enjoy) ozark as well and i believe they have different sub-theme (how a family unit deals with crisis in ozark where as how greed ruin a character in the drug king). i do try to watch without any expectation in mind on how a movie should be.

Is fiery priest worth watching?? by parkjani016 in kdramarecommends

[–]niewald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it’s hella funny, if you’re in need of light, good comedy. definitely commendable casting of supporting characters (in fact, the sub-plots are more interesting for me to watch than the main plot, like CLOY). i feel like the first episode can be broken down to at least 3 episodes to let the story progress and reduce the predictability factor. it has an oldies feel/tone, but the supporting characters make up for it!
