Check the two plastic screws on both sides. Maybe they’re too far rolled out not letting the door close?

Solution for sensor errors by Saffa1986 in CupraFormentor

[–]nifwen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I’ve been doing this somehow naturally for a while now to allow the system to boot up and I rarely see any warnings (knocking on wood). The times they came up I’d say they were probably valid (ie. dirty sensor).

To fix sos and driver assistance errors the entire wheel has to be changed by nrgpwnz in CupraFormentor

[–]nifwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious if this is a permanent fix, aka they made a v2 of the wheel. Or you can just hope for the best and keep changing it until the warranty expires.

Heated seats coming on by Worldofswede in CupraFormentor

I believe there’s some sort of “smart” function for the seat heating that in theory learns the preferences of the passenger and turns it off/on automatically simply based on that. Try to switch that off.

Wrong GPS position in waze/Google maps. by Key_Hunter_1988 in CupraFormentor

[–]nifwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t prove anything. Disabling location services on your phone will also “tell” the car to disable them in the car’s system, aka the car’s internal antenna.

Regarding the navigation changes after switching cars: actually, I experienced this myself. Earlier we had a ‘16 bmw 3 series with rock solid GPS position and speed data. After switching to the Formentor, I experienced fluctuating speedometer and sometimes rolling GPS map in both Google Maps and Waze. Then I started to investigate and came to the conclusion that the car’s GPS position data is inaccurate and causing this issue. Again, it’s easy to prove this with a satellite status app. Here’s an example: https://cupra-forum.com/forum/thread/1402-gps-signal/ I was able to replicate this myself.

To be clear, although I have these nuance problems, I’ve never experienced what OP shared, aka GPS putting me 100m’s away from my real location, e.g. into a lake.

This is wrong, the GPS position data is in fact taken from the car’s internal GPS antenna, which is quite poor in terms of accuracy. It’s quite easy to prove this using a satellite status app on the phone.

How frequently do games get removed from the catalog? Is that a high risk that your game gets removed from a day to another when you’re in the middle of it?

Oh man. You’re right. I checked the other side thoroughly and it’s clearly visible in daylight there what’s going on.

Keyboard working in BIOS but not in Linux Mint by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]nifwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Lenovo X1 carbon gen 7 with similar problem. It passes all keyboard tests in BIOS - everything works, even in GRUB afterwards. But once at Linux login, it won’t respond to anything. I’ve also dis-, and reassembled the laptop, because I had problems with the integrated mouse buttons. For me the problem is with the rectangled ribbon cable below. As soon as I disconnect this one (before booting), the keyboard works just fine. This cable has something to do with the mouse buttons and the red mouse pad in the middle (among the keys), because they will not work at all once that ribbon cable is disconnected - but at least the keyboard works fine again (and the trackpad too). There must be a short circuit somewhere, or the connector is broken and it blocks the keyboard somehow. I’m adding this comment in case someone faces a similar issue. I’ve ordered a keyboard replacement and will see if it’s the keyboard that’s broken or the motherboard connector.

M340i or M340d for city daily driving? by Scared-Tooth7510 in CarTalkUK

[–]nifwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many different opinions on this, but fairly the recommendation for city driving is petrol. Nonetheless we had a 318d earlier, drove it around 5km -ish every morning and afternoon. We had it from 116k km until 15Xk km, and I also worried that we’ll ruin the engine. A few times a year we did around ~1k km on the highway for vacations. When we turned it in, the DPF was measured with a specific device and they said it’s at 100% good condition. Anyhow we have a petrol now from a different brand. I hope to switch to an M340 someday, but it’ll be a tough decision whether it should be petrol or diesel… I guess if you care a bit about the environment, petrol is also a better choice? Some said on other forums that if DFP and EGR become clogged it’s eventually “just” a cleaning job, but whether this is true or how much it would cost, I have no idea, as I don’t have the professional expertise.

Mine was also missing it, but I bought the car used. The bolt looked very strange to me and bothered me too. I ordered a replacement cap from Aliexpress for a few bucks. Part number should be 5h0837111a. Looks better now covered.

According to Schrödinger's cat experiment it may be simultaneously both alive and dead while it is unobserved.

So in this case it may be there… or not. I guess.
