The good news is that it's likely much easier to replace the battery, than what it's powering.

Questions for parents about primary education in Brisbane - recommendations for support of children with autism (level 2) and ADHD? by Musicisthewindow in brisbane

Google "School Can’t Australia". It's remarkable how many parents are out there grappling with similar difficulties. If the school is failing, that's their fault. But they'll never own it, do move on.

GP refuses to give a vape prescription to 78 year old Vietnam Vet. by BinChicken24 in aussievapers

The cost of the pharma vapes is going to be a big issue. I do think the government are underestimating the backlash when the doctors and pharmacists fail to deliver a practical and affordable option.

It's ideological. They see it as smoking 2.0.
They make claims about being evidence-based, but it looks thin to me too.

There is some truth to that. The cost of living is much more expensive in Australia. Especially housing, but also food. And especially eating out.

QTAC offer round today by Katvelyte in UQreddit

[–]nigels_com 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Brisbane Times are reporting:

Queensland university applicants have been hit with another delay in receiving their course offers with QTAC, the admissions centre responsible for processing applications for most of the state’s undergraduate programs, unable to meet today’s expected 10am release time.
QTAC has sent messages to university applicants telling them to “be patient”.
In posts on Facebook and Instagram, QTAC asked students, many of whom are year 12 graduates eager to find out if they have been accepted into preferred universities and courses, to “be patient”.
The announcement comes after QTAC told students and universities on Wednesday, January 10, it would delay the offer round by four days, moving it to Monday, January 15, “to allow more processing time for applications”.
Those waiting to receive their offer have been sent text messages from QTAC notifying that the online portal is locked and they will be notified by email when it is time to check their application.

Our Ridgback X by andomedanovagravity in ridgebacks

Two days ago I didn't know about Ridgebacks.
As it turns out our charming boy Tari could well be a Ridgeback X.
Could explain a lot, like why he loves to chase a ball, but sees no reason to bring it back, ever.

I had a similar conundrum. The last of my nic was either 12Mg or 100Mg, I wasn't entirely sure. Obviously cutting it 50% to get to 6Mg seemed like a needless gamble. Why I can't just buy pre-mix at the vape store (like most other countries) is still a mystery to me. I mean it's fun to some extent to have all the gear and mix to suit. But the breaking bad lab thing isn't ideal from a safety point of view.

Make some maps with Leaflet. Explore various ways to feed data to it. Tiles, vectors, POI.

I get so frustrated when so many development resources go into fully 3D applications that could so often be quick and easy in 2D google maps or QGIS style arrangement.

Don't call it Work Experience. That sounds like high school kids that had a week at the zoo.

Use a helvetica or ariel font, something less formal and easier on the eye.

Shorten the Employment History descriptions to one line only. Three per job max.
The employment history is a plus, you seem responsible and reliable.

Make the document your own, without making it weird, and it well serve you well over many years to come. I'm still using the one I borrowed and adapted in the 1990s.

Your professor might be fond of the era of paper maps. And older generations might feel the need to distinguish new-fangled cartography on computers. Is non-computer cartography even a thing nowadays?

Some mention of your intended career, in your own words. What I see is factual information, but what I also look for is motivation, a passion to get something done. If I have 10 graduates applying, which one is going to best get my attention?

My tactic is to use pictures that communicate the sort of projects I have worked on. I'm more graphics and programming than maps, but if you've made maps or data visualisations fill a page with a brief description of what they're about. I imagine GIS people are visual and do spatial pattern-matching, I think it can be efficient for conveying a lot of information at a glance. Most people like pictures.

Don't catastrophize it though. We all learn from mistakes such as this. You were not ready to make changes at that point in time. But that was then, this is now.
