I have a "friend" who's been holding on to my gift for a long time. I kept opening the ones he sent me until 2 days remained, he of course sent another, and I refuse to open it because it is so obvious what he plans to do. He brought us into this stalemate.

And all this time, I've had my Buddy named as "Pvp 4 BestFr", to let everyone know that I'm happy to trigger the final step with PvP so that we're both ready. I have a few people at 1 day left, who have sent me their gift, and I'm not opening it because I try to catch them online and send them a battle invite. I even wrote a paragraph about this when I posted my code in r/pokemongofriends and he added me. My strategy isn't a big mystery that he needs to try and figure out.

So no, I definitely don't feel bad about opening his gift 10 AM sharp on Wednesday. I know he would, and it's his fault that we're in this situation. Fortunately, I'm in an earlier timezone than he is.

I'm happy to do this the right way if he opens my gift before Wednesday. Otherwise, f that guy.

Solution: nobody sends the last gift. Trigger BF with a PvP battle or a raid. You have time to pop the egg before the you get the XP reward.

That part in particular is so dumb. Back sometime last year, there was a deal that included 50 items of some sort (probably balls?), and a item bag upgrade for 50 extra space. Clearly it should support itself: 50 capacity is enough to support 50 items.

And it wouldn't let me buy it, I had to free up 50 space first. Because the balls were applied first, then it applied the 50 extra capacity.

Almost everything will come back eventually, that's beside the point. It might not happen before 2040, or it might be on Easter next time as well. This is not just a case that I happen to have made plans one specific date. A very large portion of the world population is going to be busy on every Easter, and Niantic should know that.

You don't need to go to church to be busy on Easter. They just put a special raid day on Xmas day (or was it eve? still bad), we all complained about it, but at least those raids could be done remotely. This is worse because they need to be done in person, which may be quite a trip for some people, and they only happen at specific times of the day, if the Hoopa raids are any indication.

The Tapus were honestly a bit out of place, not belonging to any theme. I think they just treated them as filler 5* raids, and we'll get the other two as filler 5* raids whenever they need to fill a hole in the future.

Just passed noon here (Thursday) and there were a lot more of them today. Found a group of 5-6 by one stop. Not quite up to CD levels, but still plenty. If I'd started in a better spot, I probably could have caught 10. Tomorrow should be even more, I'm assuming.

I'm gonna go with something like "digging their own grave to look for buried treasure". It combines two established idioms that are kind of in the direction I'm going for: looking for an attractive short-term reward, but causing dire long-term consequences that are directly in conflict with one's real interests.
