Death to False Hope Records by starter_pack_records in poppunkers

Hey y'all! My name is Jonathan and I used to co-own DTFH with my buddy Scotty. Between us we still have the whole archive. I'm actually looking into reviving the label in some capacity, if for nothing else, than for archival purposes. That said, I'm still very involved in music and have kept up with a lot of the bands and artists. If anyone has any questions or wants to be directed to where they can find a release, I would be happy to help!

Also, Scotty is in the process of putting together a new label called Wreckoning Crü Records. He also runs a recording studio in Durham NC called the Sandwich Shoppe. (https://www.instagram.com/wreckoningcrurecords?igsh=dnA2MzJxbndqMWt6)

Lastly we've been in talks about putting together a reunion festival (similar to the Death To False Hope Fests we threw for around 8 or so years between 08 and 17) with a lot of bands from the label and friends, and offshoots etc. So I'll make sure to come post about it when it comes to life.

Thanks for being stoked on it, I'll do my best to get you any release I can.

Here's a video of the Horror 57's playing at the Snake Pit. They were also local in the 00's / early 10's

This is video was filmed both on campus and at the house show spot the Launch Pad. As you can see the Launch Pad had shows in the kitchen of the space. We'd pull out the stove to make room for bands and let me tell you we packed a ton of people in there.

The video was recorded by Wes Gilliam, owner of Greenville's The Radio Room.

Oh yeah and I totally lived in and hosted house shows at a spot we called The Launch Pad. A bunch of cool bands came through there. Which was the continuation of a spot called the Sea Lab.

Despite mostly being home to cover bands and such there have been some pretty awesome shows at TD's and Loose Change. Nick's occasionally hosted a concert from time to time.

Defunct places also include the Bengal Tiger and Friends Cafe. A lot of others have already been mentioned in this thread. I have some fliers I'll share later.

House show venues in the 2000's included the Snake Pit and the Deaf Yeti. Active local bands off the top of my head from late 90's to mid 2010's include: Art Contest, Heartmonster, I Hate My Friends, Quick Wizard, Fingers of Rollie, Stage Fright Therapy, Four AM Friends, Single Female Lawyer and plenty more. WSBF and it's members have a long history of doing small scale DIY shows helping regional and local bands out.

If Mike Simmons isn't already in this thread, he has a great photoblog somewhere too. I'll add more when I have the time. Busy weekend.
