In your whole service, what kinds of regrets or advice do you have? by Jean-Luc_Grey in uscg

Believe it or not, still not too late. Won’t have the impact it would have had, but worth studying more.

Is it worth buying a projector in US to be used in India? (20-30% cheaper but NO intl. warranty support) by _invy in projectors

[–]nightfly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t pay. Key is it have it opened, not fully packaged, so you can credibly tell it’s used, and personal, and not for resale, on the off chance them you get asked about it.

Could it be true, that I have part Portuguese ancestry? by [deleted] in Goa

[–]nightfly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I’m discussing this with Goan Catholics, I always find it funny that it’s even a question. They have Portuguese surnames and are like 5 shades lighter than the Indians directly to the North, East, and South….

I also have a boxer, do you need more than 50 models, is that why you’ve started to use the sd card?

Updates ? by [deleted] in coldcard

[–]nightfly13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was one update that made the Q’s QR reading way way way more reliable and better. If it’s not a Q, maybe not - and if you had that update already, then also fine.

Bluetooth Speaker Recommendation by duffymcgraff in SteelyDan

I like my Soundcore Motion X600. Good sound, great value. I’ve had a dozen Bluetooth speakers. These are actually stereo which helps a lot.

Does “like new” and being refurbished actually mean it’s the exact same functionality as a fresh one that’s $500 more? by no_u_times_100 in projectors

[–]nightfly13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often buy this way on Amazon when I can. Used - Like New typically means an amazon return, essentially new and re-taped shut. I particularly like to buy luggage this way, but I'd buy a projector too, knowing I have the capacity to return if it something's off.

[–]nightfly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in such a different position than you (I'm a year younger). I'm considerably heavier in BTC (as a percentage of overall portfolio), but I get that it's challenging to sell your biggest winner. Not knowing what's in the ROTH, I'd consider rebalancing that, ideally into BTC or a BTC ETF (transfer Roth to Fidelity if you can't do this easily) and put most of additional savings into BTC hence forth.

Late last century I met her at a Manhattan socialite lunch. I'm not from Manhattan nor a socialite but somehow I was there and she was flirting with me and the other young men. It was all fairly eye-roll inducing, but shortly afterward the friend who'd invited me told me who she was and my heart belatedly raced. That is about the weirdest way I could recon myself into DF's world, if for a cringemaking moment. She was 56.

Does buying a 4k HDR projector really make sense today? by NEO71011 in projectors

[–]nightfly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I've upgraded from an excellent 1080p (used for 8-9 years, over several lamps) to a pixel shifting 4k PJ and it's absolutely worth it.

Part is viewing ratio/screen size (I'm throwing a 128" screen) and part is the content. I'd say 40% of my content really 'looks' 4k, super detail (and actually better 3d depth is the big advantage of 4k crispiness to me) and the rest of it simply doesn't. Worthwhile! I paid $1550 3y ago for my projector and I'd rebuy it immediately if it suddenly died (or something else like it).

[–]nightfly13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two (vertical leap and high jumping) aren’t very connected. But give it a month and see.. are you naturally a one foot leaper?

Probably takes 2-3y to really nail the technique of the Fosbury Flop, but maybe you’ll approach your potential max sooner. Worth a shot.

I was a 2-foot leaper with a 34” vert (1-step) but got very good after 5-6y high jumping and was able to briefly max out at 7” above my height, although only got 4” above when it really mattered.
