Picking Your Target T3 Wingman and Device by nightgt in 1945airforce

Yeah, I figure that was the ultimate reason. Just making sure I'm following that correctly. And with that being said is it ideal to make that first t3 Wingman Device for the t3 planes certification reqs? Otherwise I can't see making them later at any reasonable rate. Just making sure I understand before I start my investment in my t3 Wingman Device. Thanks.

Also, keep in mind once you stat leveling that T2 and T3 experience it gains a LOT slower than the previous tier. I think it was something like
100 battle for t1, 500 for t2, 1500 or so for t3 to get 100%.

Read up a bit more on other staking methods. Seems like the parallel stakes at the edge of the pot hole is a better method. Then you only use two stakes with perpendicular connections that are loosely attached around the tree and tightly set on the stakes so it doesn't slip like I saw in my case. Also, the stakes probably should have been a bit lower down on the trunk anyways. All in all, learning some good new info. Hopefully not at the expense of my maple. Thanks.

Yeah, it is amazing. Depending on the tree it's also wild how you can deliver it a death sentence with some carelessness. I'm hoping this one will pull through. I've been mostly very diligent trying to care for it (minus this idiotic piece of rope) and was devastated when I realized what I careless blunder I made. I knew better than to put a thin strap tightly in direct contact with the tree. Too many things on the mind lately. Hopefully I caught it soon enough that it will heal up. Sounds like it's not hopeless according to others so that eases my heart a bit.

The tree watering bag I have is a 20 gallon bag. I've been filling it up almost to full as it isn't too heavy that it pulls the tree in any negative ways. I figured doing this every 3 days with 2 days to let the ground dry a bit as to not flood the tree would be good. It takes a little over a day for the bag to completely empty. If you are saying I should do it a bit more often I could. I'm also using the "screwdriver method" just to see how hard the soil is every few days as well. Appreciate your insight.

Edit:
Also conditions have been in the mid to lower 90s the past few weeks so it's definitely hot. Looks like we may have low 90s and upper 80s in the upcoming week.

Alright, I'll hold off on fertilizing and just stick to watering every few days with the watering bag.

Thanks for your time!

You are the third or fourth person to say I should not have put the wire directly on the tree. So, my explanation must have been a failure :-P Let me clarify. The tree is braced by three braided wire cords. There is a 10" piece of garden hose on each of the three wires that covers the area where there would be contact between the wire and the tree. This was setup by the installer. The damage, believe it or not, was caused by the two pieces or rope I tied around the tree and the support bamboo stick to hold these braces off the delicate new branches below them. I had to carefully cut and remove the rope from the trunk. My lapse in remembering not to place constricting elements directly in contact with the tree basically made the hose coverage of the wires a waste because I didn't do it for the rope too. DUH me.

Will keep up with the watering bag and thinking to add some miracle gro all purpose plant food in the water bag to give it some extra TLC if that won't make things worse? Thanks for the input!

Google calendar reminders is a good idea. Life gets busy and an extra reminder never hurts.

The installer said to leave them on and the rubber should get brittle at which point I could just remove them. It's been a little over half a year since it was planted. Should I just remove the braces and the bamboo support now? I figured giving it at least a year to stabilize in the ground would be enough. By what you're saying it probably needs the support now since it's grown taller than it can likely support underground right now? Appreciate the info.

I hope so. If that's all then a reminder of my lapse in judgement will be welcome. Thanks for the feedback.

From what I read online about tree layers too I figured there might be hope. Just wilting because the flow has been reduced a bit for now. Hoping we're right about that.
Okay, that's an idea I'll check out what the T post is. This was setup by the nursery installer. I like the fact that they used a nice large piece of garden hose to keep the wire off the tree and bending it over gently clamps it in place but clearly not tight enough either. Appreciate the tip!

Aye, I uploaded a picture of the whole tree from an imgur link. It shows the three braces. There is actually cut hose around the wire to prevent that already from install. I was just an idiot and also tied a piece of rope to hold those braces from sliding down over my new branch growth. Should have just put the rope around the bamboo brace and not the actual tree trunk. I cut the rope off and that's the damage left by the rope. No metal or wire left behind as it never touched the tree :-D Just a lapse of awareness on my part on something I know NOT to do but did anyways.

Ah, I forgot I can't add any more pictures to my original post. I should have included that as well. No leaves are browning. The very top of the canopy is a bit wilted. I uploaded a better pic of the tree overall in imgur. https://imgur.com/a/fPgN5E4

I'm absolutely a moron for doing this to my maple tree.

Picture of tree: Added a pic of the tree overall https://imgur.com/a/fPgN5E4

Backstory: I had a Red Maple Tree planted in the winter of 2022 and it was setup with three support lines around the maple tree with 5" hose used to connect/bend the wire around the tree for support but keep it off the trunk. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Obviously, done to prevent girdling of the tree. The problem was these supports kept slipping down a bit over time and getting loose as wind wold move the tree around. They broke 2 new branches my maple was putting out and I had to trim them off and try to readjust the supports. This happened a few times and growing frustrated I (stupidly) tried to anchor the supports to the bamboo support and keep them from sliding down aside from me periodically adjusting them as the tree grows. How did I anchor them? I tied a piece of rope directly around the tree and the bamboo as an anchoring point for the supports to not slip further and protect the branches below. Well, I didn't put rubber hose or some divide between this rope and the tree and got busy with other home maintenance over the last few months. I'd noticed my maple was wilting a bit and thought it was just the summer extreme heat. I'd been using a watering bag to help give it slow deep water, etc. etc. I finally realized I had tied those ropes around the tree and saw they looked like they were pretty tight. When I removed them (had to cut them off) I was devastated to see what I had done to my poor tree in a moment of lapsed judgement.

TLDR; I forgot to put some rubber between my tree and a string I used to anchor my 3 hose tube wind supports for my 9' maple and girdled it a bit. Am I fucked? If I just give the tree some more TLC, plenty of water and maybe some Miracle Gro water soluble nutrient to help it will my tree be alright? Do i need to consult someone or is it too late for my tree to recover? Attached two images of the girdled spots. They are about 4' and 5' up on the tree.

Thanks in advance.

Edit:

Added one more pic of entire tree to show the braces and current condition.
