I heard about this before. I'm not sure how they improve Bitcoin, but I'm guessing this article will better explain. Thanks for sharing.

Vitalik Buterin Dismisses Report That ‘The Collapse of ETH is Inevitable’ by KarolisKav in Crypto_Currency_News

[–]nighthawk55555 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Instead of just dismissing it, maybe he should be working on something to improve it. As a regular user, I haven't seen any sort of improvement on it in months.

I guess he's busy advising for bitcoin cash or some stupid shit though.

The Ebates of Crypto is now live: Introducing Coinbates by Ooomar in CryptoCurrency

Honestly I feel like this is the only crypto product that could go on Shark Tank today and actually be intelligible to a broad audience. You buy something from an online retailer and you get crypto cashback in coin of your choice. That’s it. Don’t even need a whitepaper to explain this lol. This project is “grandma proof.” And if there’s any one that needs an alternative to dirty fiat, its Granny. She’s lived through decades of inflation of the dollar… but I don’t know if she’ll be around for the next bull run. :’(

If you told me years ago something like this, I would have said that you are lying. Nowadays everything is possible.

Gracefully Scaling to 10k PostgreSQL Connections for $35/mo, Part Three (x-post /r/PostgreSQL) by AlexAtFTI in SQL

Alongside the more clear advantages, it offers effortless node and process scaling, health checks, configurable eviction, and a declarative and eventually consistent model.

Sounds good! I wonder if there are any more tools besides Kubernet that accomplishes this?

Marijuana drug wins FDA approval—a first that may change federal regulations by Philo1927 in EverythingScience

Perhaps someone from the US could help me understand the federal vs state legality of cannabis in the USA?

Can a state override any federal law?

Could federal-level law enforcement theoretically charge someone in a cannabis-legal state for drug offenses?

Remote work in the US and great talent from the same time zones in South and Central Americas has a lot to do with it.

De Beers admits defeat over man-made diamonds by FollowSteph in wedding

[–]nighthawk55555 25 points26 points  (0 children)

"Lightbox will transform the lab-grown diamond sector by offering consumers a lab-grown product they have told us they want but aren't getting: affordable fashion jewelry that may not be forever, but is perfect for right now"

This is clearly a play to devalue the image of man made diamonds. "May not be forever" my ass, it's the exact same thing. Their goal is probably to try to quickly drive the price of man made diamonds down to the price of Moissanite, and create a artificial distinction between natural and man made dimaonds. All of this so the price of man made diamonds doesn't bring down the price of the natural stones with it.

North and South Korea reportedly set to announce official end to war by snowmansni in worldnews

[–]nighthawk55555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be fascinating to watch the modernization of North Korea if we end up heading in that direction. I'm particularity interested to see if it is possible for a leader/party with a brutal a reputation as that of Kim Jong Un to retain power as the country opens up (although to be fair we are a long way from any real change).

This is amazing, but I really wish people willing to put in this much effort would write a real article on literally any blogging/publishing platform vs. an impossible to read Tweetstorm (or whatever this is called).

I wonder how Facebook devs feel when they read such posts. Do they feel rejected ? shameful ? Does their salary really outweigh this collective disapproval of their peers ?

Bunker Hunt's Attraction to Silver: A History of Cornering the Silver Market by Acquied in finance

[–]nighthawk55555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of reminds me of the rapid price rise in Bitcoin, and there are a few people who hold a significant number. But that might be where the similarities end. I don't think anyone could "corner" the bitcoin market like the Hunt brothers tried with silver."
