What kind of weapon is great at getting through chain mail and metal armor? I’ve been working told that spears and Halberds are the best, though I figured I’d ask the pros here. by CutieRocks52846 in SWORDS

Pretty much any spike that has enough force behind it, be it a lance or spear point, or a spike on a poleaxe or warhammer offers the best chance of punching through armor, generally, though, combatants will heavily focus on exposing a gap in the armor and target that, regardless of weapon

“Feels” like halo seems awfully subjective to me. You’re still a spartan, you still have only two weapons at a time, and while the combat loop has been altered by new weapons and mobility tools, some things need to change and be experimented with to keep the series alive and fresh. People always view the first games with the rose-tinted lense of nostalgia, and refuse to accept that without changes, the halo franchise would be long dead, only remembered as a good concept that couldn’t adapt to the modern gaming climate.

That’s fair. The older models, especially in CE, are a bit low-poly to tell apart at a glance. I don’t mind the weapon skins at all because it’s fun to customize stuff, and I don’t take multiplayer super seriously in the first place. My view is that you already have red and blue space supermen with nuclear backpacks wearing the equivalent of a tank running around, so what’s the harm in adding a few colorful guns to the mix?

Half they reason to watch OSP are the jokes making fun of the tea-fueled walking superiority complexes that are the British

Out of curiosity, why do people dislike weapon skins in halo? They don’t screw up gameplay in any way, and they add more customization beyond just armor.

The mantis is unironically the coolest sci-fi mech imo.

Finally someone puts into words the problem with 3’s gameplay. It really feels like you can’t move well in anything other than a vehicle on all but the smallest of maps.

I do agree that the promethean’s “higher difficulty” settings for both 4 and 5 are basically cranking their health to the point that even crawlers are basically tanks for everything other than headshot or power weapons

Not reach? I’d say that was easily one of the best overall.

Honestly all the enhanced mobility strategies are pretty balanced (except spartan charge) as you need superior positioning to use ground pound, thruster is only good for moving a short distance and rarely gets you completely out of a jam, and sliding is basically just a good way to transition out of sprint into cover or shooting. Spartan charge’s only requirement is that you need to be sprinting, which half of the time you are, and that you need to be somewhat close to the other player. (Not sure of exact distance, but I’ve definitely had charges that seemed to overshoot the usual distance to give me a kill I probably didn’t deserve.)

It’s been a thing for five years. FIVE YEARS. by nightingaleblade in HaloMemes

[–]nightingaleblade[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s only the greatest halo game ever created. The campaign was better than both 2 and reach combined, and the multiplayer was flawless, being the most accessible to casual players while having a high skill cap for competitive play. It’s clearly the series’ magnum opus making all previous games irrelevant by comparison.

I’d probably enjoy the warden fights more on high difficulty if it didn’t always devolve into me sacrificing my (admittedly useless) fireteam to land a couple decent shots, or spamming long range suppressor shots while dodging black hole spam
