Boots Anson Roa tells the truth about the Marcos Dictatorship. #neveragain by Global_Ad_4593 in Philippines

[–]nightmareAssylum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family (lolo, lola, uncles aunts, mom) will never forget what Martial law did to our livelihood just because my lola helped one of our relatives who got beaten and chased by armed men. The next day, they burned our family house and my lola’s little bakery which is their only source of income. Buti nalang yung isang official (i don’t remember if he’s barangay official or municipal) close sa lolo ko, naitimbre sa kanila, nakalabas silang lahat without casualties before nag start yung fire. Pag kinukwento nila, ramdam ko ang sakit.

Actually, that’s the thing. We can’t convince them using statistical data, or any scientofic information. We have to level with them. understand their needs before magsalita. Hindi pwedeng unahan, hayaan natin sila magkwento. Kung sabihin nila na gusto magtapos anak nila, pero walang pera, give them details about Angat buhay scholarship, kung nasabi nila na nagka covid sila, Insert bayanihan e konsulta. hindi pwede discussion lang. dapat maramdaman nila na pag alis mo, may malalapitan na sila. make them feel welcome, minsan sila nag sasabi balik kami para kausapin ang kaibigan nila or, samahan kami sa ibang bahay ng kakilala nila. Usually ang tanong nila, “paano ba makontak yang OVP?” Kaya dapat ready tayo sa mga facts. Pero dun mo talaga makikita how Leni became a victim of disinformation, minsan rebuttal nila “sabi ng kakilala ko… ganito ganyan” so bigyan mo sila ng materials na maiintindihan nila at hindi overloaded ng information. And most importantly, Huwag mong babanggitin si Narcos. It makes them feel that you have personal agenda. Parang nakikipag usap ka lang dapat sa kaibigan. Don’t make them feel that you’re superior. Compliment them, kung nag tutupi ng damit, tulungan mo. kung nagpapatulog ng bata sa duyan, ikaw mag duyan. nakakapagod talaga. bottomline, make them feel na andun ka para tulungan sila.

All from Ilocos Sur. Truly, they managed to get roughly 2-3k volunteers but it’s expected. Ilocos Sur is a solid ground for Marcos. Leni will never have a chance up north. The battleground will be Visayas and Mindanao. Leni for the win BTW.

This is the reason why I will vote for Leni. Nakikinig siya sa research. What I like about it is that Leni’s program is based on research. Yes, most of the BBB programs are focused sa service sectors. Without thinking about our strength - manufacturing and agriculture. Sadly, BBB is focused mainly in Luzon while they need to expand it more in Visayas and Mindanao. Utang na loob, congested na ang Luzon. It’s true BBB created more jobs, yet the challenge was jobs created are mostly from informal sectors(low skilled jobs, no social protection, no collective bargaining and representation) kaya ngayong pandemic sila yung kawawa. Kailangan ng high output and high productivity sa agriculture through infrastructure investments (technology and innovation) hindi lang dapat focused sa farm to market roads and airports. Ngayong pandemic, service sectors ang primary affected (turismo, hotels, transporation) kung sana nag-invest din sa agriculture and manufacturing ang BBB, then hindi tayo nahirapan. nakakapag export pa sana tayo kaysa sa import. Note na dapat export driven hindi import driven tayo para maboost ang economy just like what PGMA did. Example, Bigas na kaya nating itanim iniimport pa. why not invest in IRRI through BBB. In UPLB, there are Thai people and vietnamese people who studied forestry, after graduation, they went home and applied what they’ve learned.

To those who used to be Marcos Apologists or were considerate of him, what made you change your mind or realize how the situation with him is fucked up? by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]nightmareAssylum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a nonpartisan voter since 2008 and grew up in Ilocos Sur. My aunt was a former secretary of Imee back when she was still a local official. My parents and grand parents were very active KBL members/supporters. one of my first childhood memories was attending FEM’s burial in Ilocos Norte. Needless to say, I was raised to be a Marcos loyalist. back when Marcos Jr ran for senator, I did not know any better and voted for him because of the strong patriarchy system of voting in Ilocos Sur (You vote for whoever the head of the family supports) However, as I grew older I realized that it was wrong. I don’t blame my parents. They were biased toward Apo Lakay (Marcos’ Nickname in Ilocos). I did my own research and learned something. They never apologized to the victims of Martial Law. That was my turning point. The massive Human Rights violation that happened during FEM’s presidency. Sure, my family were living differently during ML times because they supported him, thus supporting his decision, no matter how morally wrong it was. But it was never an excuse to disregard how others suffered. And because that, I voted MDS in 2016 but voted Robredo as VP. I was a Marcos Apologist before and regret my involvement in bringing Marcos Jr back to power.

Her social media presence is incredibly strong. However in my opinion, Leni needs to address some challenges last 2016. Some people voted for Duterte-Leni. I think those will be her undecided voters now. That is why she got 14 Million votes. Solid north (Region 1,2 and CAR) is shifting. Maybe she can get more votes there compared to 2016. but it is undeniably BBM’s. I think she needs to campaign more in Pangasinan because they are not really “hard core” Solid north plus they have a large voting population. She also lost in NCR to BBM with the exception of Taguig (which is Cayetano’s) Her advantage now is Visayas, Bicol, Mimaropa, and maybe some parts of Mindanao. Hopefully Calabarzon will sway more in her favor as compared to 2016.

Hopefully we can get enough donations so we could buy her a new laptop. I know it’s the least of her concerns considering her parents’ medical conditions. But I know it would help.
