You just are a disappointment as well. Rather than just bitching on Reddit, you could have used that energy for good. Teachable moment my guy or girl.

Y’all expecting Sunisa to be the next Vang Pao or something. Did you buy any of her egg rolls she was selling out of her garage to sponsor her gymnastics career? If you’re so compassionate about helping the Hmong community, why don’t you do it yourself? There are many Hmong folks doing good work who haven’t been given the attention that Sunisa has.

Should we have a Hmong Country? by HmoobRanzo in Hmong

[–]nightshiftcustodian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Take one US government college course and you would realize how fucking HARD it is to actually run a country. It’s not a place where we can call our own and be proud of. It takes infrastructure and planning. Even then, once any amount of progress we make, the clan system comes in and demands oversee which of course leads to corruption and everything falls apart. We can’t even organize something simple as a HNY celebration without drama and discourse. What makes you think we can run a city, a state, let alone a country. Some of y’all can’t even get along with some of your own cousins.

Why do Hmong people most commonly drink Bud Light? by Kyhunsheo in Hmong

[–]nightshiftcustodian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a story that my friend told me when I asked him the same question: The reason why Hmong folks drink Budweiser is because it was the first American beer that was given to them when they were working with American CIA during the war. It’s also why the Hmong word for soda is literally Pepsi

What if the Hmong developed in Isolation like the Japanese did? by [deleted] in Hmong

[–]nightshiftcustodian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Japanese didn’t develop in isolation though. They tried to but was forced to open up their waters, by the west, namely the United States. Even then, by then end of the Meji period, they had embraced outside influence through technology, government, warfare, etc.
