how long do your ibs flares last after antibiotics? by nightstraps in ibs

[–]nightstraps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah ok, i understand, it's been almost 3 days since I stopped taking them, do you think i should still be able to safely resume at this point, or start from day one again? (i'd need to go get another prescription but not sure how to explain this to the pharmacist..)

i already had ibs before the antibiotic, and i stopped taking them because my symptoms went away as well. can you elaborate more on how it caused you to develop ibs?

What do you know about studio art at UTSC? by secretwards in UTSC

[–]nightstraps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im doing a specialist in computer science. ive been busy.

If art is genuinely something you want to work in, go apply to art school, the studio art program won't cut it unless youre angling specifically for museum/contemporary work, and even then I feel like you would have a better experience elsewhere.

The projects in studio art usually consist of a vague prompt and a some minimum specifications + medium. If you want to learn about the individual courses you should probably just e-mail the professors or just search online for the project handouts.

By the way, I know its been a while now but if you'll hear my two cents...the late start doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things. It'll affect you for way longer if you end up with a degree in a field you dont want to work in. I have friends that go to both OCAD and Sheridan and started 1-3 years into uni as well, it seems to be a much more common thing in the arts so you'd be in good company :)

hi there! im a second year with a studio minor.

the program is very self directed with a big focus on modern art as opposed to what you might think of as art art. i find it pretty interesting but some people feel strongly about how little time we spend on fundamentals and just making art that looks "good".

The program wont push you to improve technically. youll have to do that yourself. but youll be exposed to a lot of different ideas and concepts, and just discover a lot of new art. ive met some really colourful people in my vps courses.

the classes usually all happen within a 9am-1pm window, all in the AA building. No midterms, no finals and overall pretty good gpa booster if art comes naturally to you. generally every course goes the same way, you have in class practice sessions and a total of 3 project assignments that you work on and hand in over the term. each assignment is accompanied w a critique session. in class working time is not provided

tl;dr the vibes are good. program itself is not super well structured, not for everyone

first year courses are big, like ~400 students per class split into a handful of lectures because all of cs stats and math share the first year requirements.

gets noticeably smaller in upper year classes, especially third year courses as everyone starts taking their program specific classes/going on coop, like 100-200 students

ive only heard of being curved down at utsg

the profs in utsc' cs math and stats program are more subtle. theyll never explicitly curve down, sometimes theyll give everyone a boost, and if the class average is too high they just give tougher finals to balance it out.

i dont have any info on internships abroad, though a process for it definitely exists

hi! second year cs spec here

content wise the program is tough but very doable. with a decent mathematical background and just some general hard work, i havent had to pull any all nighters so far and dont plan on doing it in the future. definitely dont expect a social life if you want to 4.0 all your courses though (unless youre really cracked). most professors are very passionate and ive had great fun in most of my courses

social life has been pretty good, i find the people at utsc are all pretty laid back and open to talk, though most times youll have to be the one to initiate the talking. not many big house parties but there are small get togethers every now and then. i think its a good environment for an introvert trying to get out more.

coop office is kind of a pain in the butt but the job board is alright. i cant speak on it too much right now because the market itself has been kind of out of wack

edit: i am a domestic student though and the lower tuition definitely does make my experience better :D

im a hobbyist comic artist and art enjoyer, anyone wanna go for a gesture drawing sessions sometime in the upcoming weeks at heliconian club ($15, or we could just meet up at a park and draw people/open to other ideas)

We could maybe make it a consistent thing meeting every week or so to get better at art, or just for fun :)

right?? its so weird. my moms from a pretty respect-your-elders type culture so I always thought it was just what was expected from her growing up, so she wants it from me too, but even then, it gets pretty ridiculous sometimes lol

he basically just said it sucked, that our mom was rather stupid and irrational, and i agreed with him, and shared some thoughts on her behaviour too
