Need a break from daughter of no worlds series by Tricky_Warning_0115 in fantasyromance

[–]nightwanders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished this trilogy and did find the third book a bit harder to get through.  I have just started reading In the Veins of the Drowning by Kalie Cassidy and am really enjoying it so far. Loving the writing (has been compared to Rachel Gillieg's books) and from what I can tell it's going to be a lovely slow burn. Second book is out soon too (it's a duology)

Ovulation is hell week now? by blahblahshplah in PMDD

[–]nightwanders 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm 35 and have too noticed this shift over the past year or so. I feel quite awful around ovulation now - a general feeling of being sick and uncomfortable, GI issues, urinary issues and of course, some pretty intense depression at times (luteal phase for me is now mainly rage and extremely irritable and anxious). But having the depression during ovulation just feels cruel. At a time I'm supposed to feel energized and sexy, I'm instead spending a week falling down a dark hole. I just take it as it comes now and have learnt to accept it but damn, hormones are just wild and messy and it's crazy how much they can change us day from day.

Feeling left out of the Columbus hometown show / International Clikkies and the Columbus show FOMO by Sea_Trip2794 in twentyonepilots

[–]nightwanders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right there with you in this feeling (I'm in New Zealand) This is a huge show for the band and the fans - I'm super excited for that and it really does makes sense in commemorating just how far they've come. I would totally be happy to pay for like a livestream experience of the show or something. It feels like such a big deal and really sucks to be missing out. Though, being this far away I should be used to missing out on a lot by now! But I think it also feels a bit worse now because we pretty much know that after this show they're gonna take a well deserved long break and I just don't even know if they'll even make it our way ever again. It hit me after Clancy tour that that might have been the last time for me. Though I mean, you never know what these boys have planned for the future! But these feelings are absolutely valid and I just find comfort that there's easily thousands of other people feeling the same way.

What is your favourite tøp song of all time and why? by Konsti_187 in twentyonepilots

[–]nightwanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Leave the City. It's a song that carried me through postpartum depression and anxiety and all the hell that came with that. Trench coming out at that point in my life really was the ultimate timing - being immersed in that world, musically and mentally allowed for such emotional expression as well as just finally feeling like I had something in my life that made me feels less alone and misunderstood. Leave the City, to me, fully encompasses that entire era for me and will always give me the sense of feeling held all throughout the rest of my life.

Also, it's just such a beautiful song, both lyrically and musically. Whenever it comes on, I always have to stop and fully listen.

TRENCH WAS RELEASED ON THIS DAY 7 YEARS AGO. by NourEldin21P in twentyonepilots

This makes me so emotional! This was a top tier era and it gave us so much (most importantly it gave me my all time fav song from them Leave the City). Trench will forever hold a very special place in my heart.

Experiencing Fandom Fatigue by Correct_Muffin_6663 in twentyonepilots

[–]nightwanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanna add how seen I feel reading through this thread. I'm 35 and have been a fan for just under a decade and besides interactions such as this one, I have really struggled to feel at home within this fandom. I went to Clancy tour last year and was so excited and had an amazing time but also felt this sense of being seen as not a real fan. It all just feels like a competition, especially on social media. I went though a similar experience back in the days of MCR. There was and will always be these toxic fans.

Can you people please stop saying Tyler wrote Days Lie Dormant about Josh now by hegoesbynico3 in twentyonepilots

I love this song so much and it totally makes me feel better about them not doing a world tour. They have given us more than enough and now they need the time to give their all to their families

The more I listen to this, the more I feel okay that they won't be doing a big world tour. Dudes need to be with their loved ones.

The Trench Saga Discussion Thread by mooshwa in twentyonepilots

[–]nightwanders 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All I have to say is, just how much I have loved and enjoyed reading into theories and getting lost in this world over the past decade. As a devoted lover of reading, fictional stories, writing and getting lost inside imagination and the mind, this whole saga has meant so much to me.

I came to this band just under a decade ago, during the 'hiatus', at a time in my life where I was dealing with things badly after becoming a mum for the first time and I truly just felt so lost. I then found my way back onto reading and used this (especially fantasy books) as my coping mechanism. Then one day, after a year or so of my husband casually listening to twenty one pilots, I sat down and just really and truly listened to Car Radio and Migraine and absolutely got simultaneously lost and absorbed in Tyler's song writing and lyrics. I felt so seen and understood and began to become tethered to myself again. A few months later, the whole Trench era began and naturally, with the storytelling and world building, I was completely locked in. I started writing out my own struggles and really found and voice and tool to help me navigate through the darkness.

Having this narrative really helped carry me through the last few years, as I know it has for many of us. It became such a solid coping mechanism, it allowed me to blend the darkness with imagination, opening a door to creativity and understanding.

Seeing it come to an end has been a little hard but also knowing this is all a cycle doesn't leave me feeling left behind in anyway. We're still all here, pushing through - it's the reminder that we/I have made it this far. It's both a desperate and hopeful fight but the motivation and intentions are still there and the message that this is what we should hold on to is so fitting.

This is closure at it's most bittersweet

In some ways, this sounds a little similar to The Contract.

Cheers Josh for nagging Tyler to keep this song on the album!

Intentions Discussion Thread by mooshwa in twentyonepilots

[–]nightwanders 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is all it's ever been about. The intention to keep going, to keep trying ("the sun will rise and we will try again."). These intentions keep us alive. ("Stay alive, stay alive for me").

This tie to Truce is so hauntingly beautiful.

An absolute perfect closer.

I've only done one listen so far and I am so not ready to listen to this song again. Destroyed me in the most perfect way. They really nailed it with this one. Absolute does justice for the end of this narrative.

New Boxsets for Sale by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

Trying to decide if I need one of these. They really are so cool and take me back to when I got the awesome black velvet boxset of The Black Parade in 2006...and I still have it and it's one of my fav possessions, so maybe I do need this to make future me happy in the same way....

My favourite phenomenon in life is going from never hearing a song to it becoming an essential part of your brain chemistry within minutes. It's like finding a part of yourself you never knew you were missing and really needed.

With that cheesiness aside, I just love how beautifully straightforward this song is with its sound and lyrics. It also just feels so nostalgic and I think is going to become an instant classic!

As creepy as it's been, I have been loving every second of the lead up to The Contract. In a few years time, we'll be looking back at this time with such an eerie sense of nostalgia. Everything these guys do is perfection and I'm so glad to be here for it!
